Does anyone know if they leave messages or send emails if you cannot be reached by phone? I will be incommunicado from Tuesday night until Thursday night and although people have said the Northeast will not be called until later, I am just wondering.

What time of day do they normally call? If they try to call by 6:00 ET, I might not be home yet, nor would kids on the west coast that are still in school. And would they leave messages before sending an email?

4th Q and Final grades (numerical) were just posted on my county’s online portal. Of my 6 APs, 4th Q ave. = 101 (100.83) , Year Term = 99 (98.69) … If ONLY I had this data when it really counted … is it too late now? Oh… and when I did the original commonapp, I was 16/670, now it seems I ended up somewhere in the top 3, … oh well, as an Hispanic, maybe I can still “steal” someone’s spot …

Plumazul: Sounds like you’ve got good news, and you should definitely send it in. It can’t hurt and could help. I’m not in the hunt for a Latino spot, so if you steal one, it won’t be mine.

Yea, I’m putting together an email, … since I can not get a transcript in time, I’m going to offer the username/password to the data portal so they can see the data if they wish (or they could always call my GC, but he’s always so busy, such is life at a large public school)

Now I’m off to my “end of music year” recital. I’m playing …
Poulenc, Nocturne No. 1 in C, and
Chopin, etude op10, No. 12 … “Revolutionary”

I can get lost in my music, and forget everything else for awhile … :)

since we’re talking about sending last minute info…
senioritis struck me HARD and i ended up slacking off during 3rd quarter, and my grade kinda went down… it’s not that bad, i just have a few A-s but my counselor thought that since my first semester grade was stronger it might be better for me to not send it.
but then i talked to my reg officer, and she told me that recent grade will always help them in the process… i just didnt know if it would help ME so i didnt send it in, but now im wondering if i should send my grade in?? or should i just wait and see if they ask for it? im just worried that they will think i like failed all of my classes if i dont send it in.

Here are my thoughts on whether to send in an updated transcript: If your grades are amazing, then why not? It can only help your chances. But if you have a few grades you aren’t so happy with, why send it in? If Harvard really needed a new transcript to make their decision, they would require you to send it in.

I don’t think they would assume you failed any classes just because you choose not to send in your grades. They wouldn’t jump to conclusions like that, and they can easily call your GC to make sure. At this point, I’m just going to wait and see what happens.

iluv11alot: my school counselor used to work in admissions at harvard for several years and that’s what he told me when i asked about the waitlist. having read on this thread that next week is supposedly THE week we hear, i was curious and that was his response. he said most private school kids are the end of may/possibly as late as june. again, not the hole-fillers though.

Okay I keep hearing about people STILL sending updates. So are you guys sending updates like 2-3 times? If so, what do you possibly put in these “updates” Since I don’t know how many new things you can do in 1 and a half months.

Does anyone know to what extent the admissions committee reps are available for calls from GCs? I believe our GC tried to put in a call to the rep last week but was unsuccessful and had to settle for sending an e-mail message.

tharp; I just sent one update and plan on keeping it that way. If they want to accept me then great! My opinion is that pestering them is the worst possible thing to do. BUT if, like Plumazul, you actually have great news about something recent, then send it! If it is informative then, as I said before, it can only help.
