Is anyone on CC currently attending, an alumni of, or a parent of a student from the Hill School? I just want general opinions/facts about the school: the academic environment, social life, student-teacher interaction, dorm life, and anything else that anyone can possibly think of.

There's not much information on the website about Hill (most school websites don').. so I've been wanting a response from an actual person. I haven't been able to find that "person".....

haha no, I didnt, but they were all really nice. I just told them I was thinking of applying to their school and asked some questions about it, that's all. Someone from Groton worked in admissions and made me really want to go there. haha

The Hill school is not as competitive to get into as the most competitive schools. Whether or not it should be considered a safety (I like the word "likely" better now) depends on how strong a candidate you are. Many applicants who are strong academic performers sometimes think that a match school is a likely school.

I visited the Hill for a sports event. It is an attractive campus with fine facilities. The graduates I've met seem to be very nice people. The negative is that the town it is in does not seem to be thriving. It is OK, but you should attend the revisit to get a better feel for that. Other than that, the Hill has much to offer.

I'm not familiar with the website of the Hill. However, if you do a search or go to the website map, you may be able to find information about weekend activities for that week, the student newspaper, and other internal communications. Sometimes Admissions has students who can answer questions. Did you google the Hill? Also try Utube and flicker. Go to their Alumni site to find out what they have for alums. I know the Hill young alumni association sponsors a fun mixer in NYC for some boarding school recent graduates Latest News: Alumni Events - Blair Academy
Keep searching, and you will start to get a feel for what a school offers.

Sorry, but I cannot be more specific than what I said. I only went to one sports event and drove in and out of the town. It was winter, and usually things don't show that well in winter. It was not impoverished. Pottstown, Pennsylvania - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia If you get in, go to the revisit and judge for yourself. It will probably be more attractive in the spring.

well I was accepted into the hill and am going next year. the town really sucks but i hear students dont spend much time there anyway. Are you going there net year?

I visited HILL with my son before. He does not like it. The students dress so formal for him. business like.
According to boarding school review. one student said he felt alone in the first year and played game . Well the review occured long times ago, I think the school did not do a good of job to integrate the new kids. One of my friends told me. Her friend's son felt pressure for grade. I do not know whether the parents gave too much pressure or not. I hope my son like it. I do not like the weekend activities . The students goes to NYC and King of Prussia mall. That is my personal experience.

You should check the old posts. Last year there was a girl who went to Hill and made a lot of posts. We looked at it several years ago for an older S and liked it. It is a little easier to get into than its peers, but seems to be on an upturn. Hill was one of the last schools to go co-ed and it lost a lot of good candidates during that period of delay and went downhill somewhat. It is working on rebuilding its' reputation now. One issue is the number of Phil. area students who like to go home on weekends. I don't know if the school has addressed that by increasing the number of closed weekends, but we felt that a child who didn't go away for the weekend might feel a little lonely.

You need to visit and ask a lot of questions of students who are not tour guides. I have repeatedly heard two negatives about this school which I am uncomfortable repeating.

icy9ff8 i would very much apreciate it if you could tell me those negative aspects you heard about the school in like a pm or email or something. Im going to that school next fall and i am trying to learn everything about it. Thanks!
