Anyone going to revisit day or was accepted? Any insight on the school? Thank guys :)

I have a friend who was accepted as a forth former, but due to the schools money “crisis” he will not be able to attend. There FA is very “dry” this year, but i have heard that they are accepting alot of full paying students who wouldnt normall get in.

I was accepted w.o financial aid as a day student.

Hill accepted my son last year. Before the acceptance, we visited the school in the dead of winter. (It was 2 degrees the day we toured the campus. Brrrr.) He really liked the school’s dean of admissions, a lot of the common areas (the dining room was first rate) and the general cut of the campus. However, the area outside the walls of the school was fairly bleak, and some of the dorms were rough. Also, we found the college placement program weak.

Hill has the hint of a school that was once renown but has fallen on some hard times. I had the sense that Hill had stuggled recently but was making a firm commitment to return to its past glory.

I agree with toombs61. It was my first interview ever, and I was really sick that day. My family and I were using it as kind of a ‘practice’ interview because we live pretty close. Our tour guide didn’t mention academics once, just the facilities and athletics. I didn’t get a great vibe from the place but thats just me. I didn’t end up applying- its not the right fit for me. A girl in my grade is going next year as a freshman and is really excited. It isn’t as academically challenging compared with many of the other schools mentioned on this board. JMTC

Let me first admit that I am biased, because my husband graduated from The Hill School, and he’s hoping that our son will choose to attend it in the Fall. He really treasures the years that he spent at The Hill, not just because of the lifelong friends that he made there, but also because of its many outstanding classes and teachers. Pottstown isn’t too thrilling, but students are kept busy with a host of ECs on campus. If you want pizza, Pottstown has it. Ditto for movies, and other teenage necessities.

It’s true that Hill went through a tough patch many years ago, but it has been on the upswing since girls were admitted, and this year’s accepted students have the highest SSAT average in its history. My husband was very well prepared for college (we met at Georgetown). He rowed on a championship crew team while at G-Town, and his boat featured kids from St. Paul’s, Deerfield, Hotchkiss and Andover. Does The Hill have the reputation that those schools do? No. However, it’s a very fine, traditional boarding school that will get you wherever you want to go if you put in the effort.

Hill School kids are shunned on the Main Line.

@lemmings: That’s very true, I was rejected because of FA, and so did many of my friends.

i have some questions about hill, but i dont know how to start my own thread. help, please? :)
