The Hopeful Hoya Party

Happy Chanukah to all my fellow Jewish Hopeful Hoyas!

:)

Oh, and the pity party continues. I have a Calc BC test tomorrow, which is officially test number six in four days. This is horrible. I'm seriously dying from the stress of all these tests, college apps, Gtown, and the 3 papers due Friday I've been trying to forget about. I almost cried in the school bathroom today (almost. I'm so not a crier, especially not a public crier!) just from being so overwhelmed. When all this is over, I'm going to unwind with a nice bottle of Valium mixed with about half a bottle of vodka and perhaps a few joints. (LOL totally kidding)

Yeah Lauren, I know the feeling. I have a paper and a poster due Thursday, my Calc II final next Tuesday, and my Microbiology, Shakespeare, and EMT finals next Thursday, and I' haven't started anything.

I'll definitely go if I get in. If not, well... It will be panic time application wise, 'cause the only other decent schools I've applied to are the Academies and Notre Dame.

Yes, teachers are laying it on. My english teacher was like, oh, by the way, I want a four page draft of your Hamlet essay by Thursday (this was today)...oh, OK. I'll just add that to the list with reading two chapters of Euro history, quiz tomorrow, an evil Spanish lit test, a four page art research paper for my night class, and my BC test tomorrow also. Which I'm soooo going to fail.

Though, I suppose if I were doing nothing I'd pass all of my time eating away my anxiety ;)

you think that's bad, I have a 10 page literary analysis paper due tomorrow! I'm already at 2600 words, and I feel like my fingers are going to fall off!

oh, and happy Chanukah to you too, Lauren!

Happy Christmukwanzadan to everyone! :)

Hey, im new to this whole thing so sorry if this question is elsewhere and i couldnt find it... but do we have to wait for the envelope in the mail or are they going to email us as well? is there any way to find out on the 10th, like online or something, or do we have to wait?? (im really impatient if u couldnt tell...)
WH

you'll have to wait for the mail truck to roll right up to your mail box, give you a big smile, and hand you a HUGE envelope filled to the brim, with Georgetown Undergrad on the upperleft hand side, after which you'll open it, slowly pull the letter, until you see the fatefull word "congratulations", and slowly melt away into a semi-euphoric state of mental ambrosia...I can only dream.

... they're actually just normal-sized envelopes, which makes it scarier because you can't differentiate between the size of the envelopes, so you have to open it to find out... :(

greattttt, so i can really have a nervous breakdown... i think Gtown tries to stress us out with this process and im really not enjoying it...

no matter what happens, I'm sure I'll respond with vast amounts of alcohol, either to numb the pain or increase the pleasure.

oooh yes... now if only we heard on a friday b/c being hung over in school the next day might not be so hot...
I hate that we dont hear until the 15th, a bunch of my friends already know and some find out this friday but i get to be tortured. im hoping that since i live right outside NYC ill find out on monday, it just cant take 5 days for mail to get from DC to NY... They should let us send overnight FedEx envelopes with our apps so we can find out asap.

A friend of mine is doing ED to Penn, so he'll know on Friday. I have similar hopes to you. I'm pretty sure they mail the decisions out on the 10th, so we may get them early. Being in Michigan, hopefully it doesn't take too much longer. I'm still on the east half of the US, right?

My best friend has been in school since October (she is an athlete and she was recruited by UNC - chapel hill and signed early) and my other good friend got into the Mich Honors program rolling so while they are like dozing off in class i still have to work, KILL ME. and then my friends find out from Cornell and Dartmouth on friday so this is gonna be torture... my only solace is that Yale and Princeton dont find out till the 15th-ish too so we can all be miserable together.

right. I'm actually still waiting for Mich (I applied late) but I"m instate, so I'm not too worried. Michigan State has been trying to bathe me with scholarship money, though, so that's nice. But still, gotta keep those grades up (at least until the 15th).

are u def going to Gtown if accepted? im still going to apply to a few other schools so i need to keep my grades up until midterms (the end of Jan)

It's not a done deal, but only b/c of money. It would kill me to turn it down, though. I'd say 85% yes, i'd go if accepted.

Same here. If I end up getting a full ride somewhere, I'll probaly end up going there because my parents are bribing me with a new car, and I won't have to worry about loans or anything. But if I get the same money from everywhere, I'll be at Georgetown next fall if I get in.

Me too, netshark!!!!!!!!!!
