GAAP Weekend

Just got back with my S from GAAP weekend. It was an amazing weekend and it definitely helped my S decide that Georgetown was were he wanted to be. I encourage everyone to go if possible and make sure you get your reservation in early. They had 1000 early actions accepted students and only room for 400 were the numbers I heard. Could be off, but regardless, get your reservation in quickly.

Edit: I just got the e-mail about the April 13-14 and 20-21 newly-scheduled open houses.

I have already decided to go to GU. Is it compelling to attend these open houses? I visited the campus last summer, and I’d rather not make a trip to D.C. unless it were indeed compelling.

Of course, it’s not mandatory and if it was a hardship to go, then certainly don’t do it. However, I thought it was pretty amazing and it gave you a real feel for the school. Some of our favorites were sitting in a class lecture, hearing from the dean of your respective college, and the Q&A sessions with existing students. Also, as a prospective student you get plenty of time to meet and hang out with other incoming freshman.

I went too although I’m a recruited athlete so I’m already attending Gtown for sure. But I highly recommend going regardless because it made me love Georgetown even more and got me so much more excited for attending in the fall. The students were so passionate about Georgetown along with the professors and everyone else I met. It was also super informative in terms of MSB and I’m sure for whatever school you’ll be in- gives you the perspective of freshmen and sophomores and upperclassmen as well. I got a lot of info about preparing for internships and study abroad and stuff I need to get ready for in the future

Oh and the class lecture was awesome- The Pyschology of Dictatorship. The professor travels all over the world for research purposes and has published a ton of books on pyschology. And a very impressive speaker. Gives me a great indication of the caliber of professors at Georgetown.

@Hoyagolfer: I went to that class lecture too! it was absolutely amazing

Agreed  loved it
