The "I got in without a 2300" club (uber UBER-exclusive!)

I love how ppl think elon or marylabd statw park or any other state college is, as the tgread mebtioned, “Amazing top top colleges”

I totally can’t wait to post my crap next spring. My Sat’s just came in at 1980 (Level 3), with ACT’s at 28. People here are a perfect example of why you should always try, even if it seems like a long-shot. You have nothing to lose!

well, according to princetons website, percentage of students who are admitted who hae SAT scores is around 28.1%, while, scores between 2200 to 2290 is about 10.1%. so, for people who are 2250-2290 range for their SAT scores, like me (i got a 2270), there is just extra incentive to achieve those extra 30 points because by doing so, u increase chance of admission 3 fold. although, i acknowledge the fact that u can still get into Princeton and such schools without a 2300 SAT score, increasing your admission chances 3 TIMES is too good to pass up, and thats why if my manual score check comes back with my same score, im retaking a 2270 =)

Level 4

Good luck to everyone!!

this thread is relatively encouraging

This thread is AMAZING

Not too many MIT acceptances though =(

oh wow, i took a mock and got a 1740 (600 math, 600 reading, 540 writing). i just took the real SAT today, and i think i did similarly.

this thread makes me feel ■■■■■■■■.

^& this is supposed to be the bottom half of CC scores…50%get 2300+ 50%get below, but only on CC is that the reality

What are some low end scores that can still grant acceptance into UVA? I’m curious as to whether anyone with below a 2000 got in.

To the above poster, I would think you could find out more about that on the UVA forum. That being said, I know for a fact that many, many people with below a 2000 are admitted. This should give you a slightly better idea of the applicant pool: [Profile, Admission Information, Undergraduate Admission, U.Va.](http://www.virginia.edu/undergradadmission/profile.html)

I really do feel that UVA looks at the entire person, though. I was concerned about getting in from out-of-state, because my SATs, though very good, were not incredible, which I assumed was necessary to make their tough OOS admissions cut. However, I ended up getting in and even receiving a “likely letter,” which is sent to about 150 or so applicants (or so I heard), notifying them of potential admission. I think UVA recognized that I had other strengths besides just SAT/GPA. So, I wouldn’t worry too much about the SAT- they’d rather see what you do with 4 years worth of work than 4 hours of it.

Good luck, and feel free to PM me with any questions!

Level 4: Columbia

Hopefully this gives hope to some people who are looking to apply to Penn or other good schools. Because obviously my scores were way below Penn’s average. I barely even made the SAT requirement of a 1300 (CR+M) for Drexel’s accelerated BS/MBA program.

Yuenie!!

That is so damn awesome!!! Upenn…on a 1990???

YYou gotta give me more stats…hooks?? URM??? ECs??? Essays??

PLEASE!! UPenn is at the top of my list…no its second to Pton!!!

Impressive! Hope for me yet with 2240. To think I was so down about it! I plan to still retake it though since I’ve got plenty of time.
