Please post if you've accepted U of C's offer of admission and have sent in your deposit.
If so, what date, and what were your top 3 Dorm choices?

Lonely thread…haha
Me! Max P, Snell-Hitchcock, and Pierce. I submitted the 20th, so I’m hoping to get Max P!

I deposited Sunday. My choices are Max P, South, and Pierce.

Max P is really popular it seems… Anyway, i’ll be submitting in a while… Still have to make dorm choices.

@20110752, you’ll most likely get Max P. I didn’t even commit until April 21 (RD ftw), and I submitted my housing app after that and still got it.

PS, submit your housing apps ASAP!! Remember that you can change anything on it until June 1 without losing your place in the line - so just throw something random on the app and then make your decisions after! :D

I think South remains open during breaks. Perhaps more convenient for international students.

@catherineee, I thought that the selection is based off the sooner you submit your deposit not the housing form?

I want to sign up for S-H, but I have to wait until after I get other decisions (financial reasons and a couple schools that are ≥ UChicago for me). I know I will not be able to get S-H if do attend.

What happens if you submit the enrollment deposit just to secure your housing choice, but then not go after finding out you got into a better college? Of course you lose the non-refundable deposit, but other than that, is it okay? or are there legal complications?

Do not do that. If you decide to go somewhere else, somebody who may have really wanted to go may not be able to because you took his spot.

The better question is what is this “better college?”

Maybe “better college” is not the question…maybe “better fit” is…Chicago is not for everyone…as is the case with any college depending on the student.

Really? You have $500 to just throw away?

Regardless, it’s illegal to send deposits into more than one school. You’ve already signed the various contracts.

There is nothing illegal about it. Anyone can have the intention of attending a university and then come off a waitlist and committ to the new school. I agree that you wouldn’t commit to two at the same time though.

From the Common App:

“I affirm that I will send an enrollment deposit (or equivalent) to only one institution; sending multiple deposits (or equivalent) may result in the withdrawal of my admission offers from all institutions. [Note: students may send an enrollment deposit (or equivalent) to a second institution where they have been admitted from the waitlist, provided that they inform the first institution that they will no longer be enrolling.]”

You checked this box. So there is something illegal about it, unless you’re strictly talking about waitlisting. I don’t believe the person who asked the question was.

Regardless, the bigger question is still “You have $500 to just throw away? Really?”

Submitted 1/9, I believe.
Blackstone, Broadview, and Burton-Judson.

Submitted December 30th, I think.
Top choice was Burton-Judson.

Is there no facebook group for class of 2015 admits?

Submitted this morning.
Snell-Hitchcock, Burton-Judson, Max P

@20110752 I’m pretty sure it’s based on when you submit the housing app. They emphasize that you should submit it as early as possible, even if you haven’t really thought through the dorms yet - and then just go back and change it all without losing your spot. (Current students, correct me if I’m wrong?)
