okay apparently people are saying that penn will notify us online on friday, december 9th, so i'm going to change the countdown a little. btw, the day for online notification may not be correct. this is just a guess.

COUNTDOWN
-November SAT (Sat. Nov. 5) : 2 days (very soon!)
-Thanksgiving (Thurs. Nov 24) : 3 weeks
-online notification (Fri. Dec. 9) : 5 weeks, 1 day
-acceptance letters sent (Thurs. Dec. 15) : 6 weeks

Thomas, I SO hope I can experince that feeling of being accepted to the school of my dreams.

What made you pick Penn over three other fabulous choices?

Princess: we have under 40 days left to wait! Ahhhh!

ok so the online notification date was wrong again. sorry guys. here's the new info:

COUNTDOWN
-November SAT (Sat. Nov. 5) : 2 days (very soon!)
-Thanksgiving (Thurs. Nov 24) : 3 weeks (21 days)
-online notification (Wed. Dec. 14) : 5 weeks, 6 days (41 days)
-acceptance letters sent (Thurs. Dec. 15) : 6 weeks (42 days)

helix- now we have 41 days :( wow we are already impatient haha.

Impatient people all apply ED...........and it always pays off. The clock is running and you will begin to hear rumors about the numbers of apps at each school and the like........enjoy your 41 days.....sometimes:

But for us ED people, it's mostly the D word we're worried about ;) So where are you guys getting Dec. 9th now?! I see Dec. 14th on the boards, no mention of 9th though..

first people said that they thought we were going to get notified on the second friday of dec, which is the 9th. then someone said that it's actually supposed to be dec. 14th

Yeah, I'm wondering where Dec 9th came from in the first place..

Penn just has an amazing feel to it. I know Yale and Georgetown have nice looking campuses, but Penn has a completely different look to it. Penn seemed to be the most diverse student body I came across at all of the schools I visited. There literally is a group for EVERYONE here. Plus, the ambiance of having such a historical city only a 5 five minute subway ride away. Philly has everything. I didn't think the other cities had as much, except for Georgetown (DC), but I also like the fact that Penn is an Ivy. Not for snobbish reasons, but because students from all eight Ivies are like a brotherhood/sisterhood. We all kind of mess with each other. This weekend is homecoming for us/Penn, so Princeton has already arrived in town and it's one huge social scene/party. It's pretty cool.

wow, but I thought Princeton and Penn were rivals?? It's great to know that all the Ivies socialize with each other.

Rivals like two brothers are.......until an outsider steps in to join up or make a challenge! That kind of rivals.

Penn and Princeton ARE rivals, but all eight Ivies still hold a connection fpr one another.

COUNTDOWN
-Thanksgiving (Thurs. Nov 24) : 2 weeks, 4 days (18 days)
-December SAT (Sat. Dec. 3): 3 weeks, six days (27 days)
-online notification (Wed. Dec. 14) : 5 weeks, 3 days (38 days)
-acceptance letters sent (Thurs. Dec. 15) : 5 weeks, 4 days (39 days)

they only send acceptance letters? they send rejections and deferals later?

Where does it say that online notification is December 14th?

does anyone know when you get your pin number and account stuff if you sent your appilication through the mail so you can see your decision online?

by acceptance letters, i mean acceptance/rejection/deferral letters. im not quite sure what i was thinking when i wrote "acceptance letters" lol. i guess i was thinking a little too optimistically.

no one is sure when the online notification day is, but im guessing it's dec. 14th because that's what another CCer said it was according to an online chat for int'l students with an admissions rep. Online notification usually occurs before the letters are sent though, which means that dec. 14th would technically be the latest day for online notification. it could be wrong.

posting this until i find a better place to put it. Very helpful.

According to Dean Stetson::::"we're going to give students the benefit of the doubt" inexact quote about SAT writing, but u get the drift

thanks 26e!

whenever i read anything about penn admissions, i go into this weird trance.....

"We are going to give the students the benefit of the doubt on the new SAT writing portion this year. Overall, testing represents about 40% of the overall students profile which leaves a major amount of information beyond standarized testing....activities, creative pursuits outside the classroom, interests and passion for "something" in their lives are very much a part of the measure. " Including grades or no? If not, seems like a rather large % is based on testing..
