hmmm gandalf- i vaguely recall u wanting to give the IIT entrance despite getting into williams just to 'prove to your friends its easy' or something along that strain.. nvr mind..

u got in?

and shashank..CONGRATS!!!!!IIT O_o!!!!! now just hope that you dont get coal and mining in bihar!!!!lol... awesome!!!!

ok another question- given that we are all extremely priviliged (as compared to the rest of india atleast) do you think we should all have lots of children as our children will be 'productive to society' (given the priviliges they shall get from us) or should we just adopt and thereby pass on the privilges but not increase the population? (a friend asked me this question) i for one am not planning any kids (cant stand them) so i just want yur opinions...

Im in for adopting...

shashank u got in, to freaking IIT, why are you not jumping in joy and banging your head against the wall in utter glee!!!?!!!! or i am missing something here? (i have no clue as to how the process works..)

He got in, but he's not sure if he'll get his choice of major or campus.

And gandalf took the test coz he had invested a lot of time and money into the process. And he probably didnt have anything better to do :p

I'm curious too...was I pretty confident? hmmm..odd..I never felt that way. I wonder what made you get that impression
[/quote]
yes. i was wondering too. you're extraordinarily humble. i think ft mistook you for someone else

oo and nomad from the previous pages 27th/28th/29th suits me cool... 26th and 30h don't tho

Nope.you've got it all wrong. I wanted to give the IIT entrance bcos I wanted something good to fall back on incase something goes wrong with the visa ,etc....and..I didn't want two years of (mild) hard work to go waste. And yeah..I got in

Anyway, you're entitled to an opinion. Let's leave it at that.

lol! I second that.

why is it so obvious that your kids will be productive? im sure you are privileged too, and grew up in a 'privileged' atmosphere. how productive are you? :)

(no offence meant)

can i have some opinions on an integrated MSc in physics?

Shahank - integrated seemed a good choice a year ago to me, then I thought - I wouldn't want to carve out my course/college right upto the MASTERS level right now! I mean you dont want to me tied to one institute for your masters as well. Consider just Bachelors right now, and do your masters at another place. Also allows for more perspective.

the way i see it is - im not going to get a decent btech anyway. and since im sure i want to do a masters, i may as well sign up now and get one with just an extra year, and if i need to i can always get myself another masters later in a related field. its after all just a matter of one year...

im not very sure abt the *Sc part. not many people have been very encouraging...

they won't be encouraging. this is India

If it interests you, I'd say go for it

Hell no shashank - physics is what you like - go for it. Dont give a **** about those who frown at "the *Sc part".
