The Indian Thread (TiT) # 16

I thought you were leaving Kumara :D

hiya guys!

Ah, well I'll just call them up tomorrow to be sure the deadline has passed. It's better to take it if we can get credit for it at a univ right?

Hi Shreya :D

Its offered in AIS Chennai, that's where I'm taking it, but I'm not sure about AES Delhi, I wanted to take it there since I live here, but for some reason I couldn't (I think they didn't let me, but I seem to have forgotten, damn memory.)

Oh, you coming to Chennai then Abhinav? :D Nice! I know its offered here. But I dont know if I am going to take it. Dont think I will

Why not? Don't think its worth the money?

I am not sure man. Depends, if I have time I will. Its definitely worth the money, no doubt. But then I already have so many entrance examinations up my sleeve, I dont know if I will find time to write this or do justice to the exam if I decide to write it without proper prep

so can you still register for it now?

I think you can. For some of it being registered end of May. Will check and let ya know Shreya

thanks!
I want to see if i can take them.

@shruthi: Well, even if you're half-prepared for the JEE, then Calculus BC, Physics C (both papers) and Chemistry will be a breeze, so I suggest you register if you still can.

Get in touch with Tom Meyers at the AIS, he's the AP co-ordinator there. Some schools allow late registration and some dont, so ask.

Also, there are some sneaky agents who can arrange AP exams at schools which offer the AP curriculum but arent that well known, but they charge almost double the actual cost. I got a price of about Rs. 3300 per exam from AISC, which is about the same as the CollegeBoard sets it.

Here are the contact details in case you need it:

American International School-Chennai

@ shruthi: if you get in MPSC( C?Decision?) then dropping the entrances and taking the AP, CLEP or/and IB would be loads better I think. What say?

Last date for registration is the 15th.

You might not want to name a thread tit, of all things.

Niiice! That makes me, rama_GB and Abhinav who're taking the AP's here. Abhinav - which subjects?

@shruthi: Definitely contact Tom Meyers ASAP through email, or just call up the school if you want - they're nice people, and this would be a faster way. I think that the deadline is past, not sure though...don't take my word on this.

@Abhinav and tetris: Thanks Abhinav! :D I'd definitely call them up right away. I was just a little hesitant about the whole thing, 'cos I wasnt sure if I had prepared enough to take them. But yeah, I think I will now anyway. Will call them up :) Thanks

@Libin: Provided I get into one of them, yes, the obvious choice would be to write the AP's, but still...

@tetris and Abhinav, thanks!

stupid question alert: do we have to be half-prepared for IIT to take the Calculus BC and Physics C or is the CBSE syllabus enough? :S  Even if it isn't, I'm guessing one month time to study for them is enough?
