lol, what discrimination surfup?

everytime I tell someone I like reading books that are not created by someone with the last names verma, tandon, arihant, or whatever, I get a lecture on how I will end up working in a McDs. Not even kidding, I got this reaction from a friend and a teacher.

im sorry man. that would be maddening, i understand.

:/ that’s really terrible. Luckily, most people I know were pretty supportive about the commerce thing-- Dad wouldn’t have been happy with humanities, though, but my school isn’t the greatest at humanities so I didn’t really mind, in any case.

I don’t have a problem when I tell people I love reading, though I just wish I had people I could discuss books with. Most of the people I know dislike reading, and even my friends who like it either have no time for it this year, or read completely different stuff from what I like.

ah its ok. Its something all us “book-lovers” have to face sometime or another. So you an IIT-aspirant or current IIT-ian?

surfup and meghna, I love you guys.

WOW I MISSED A LOT!!!

i was an iit aspirant. got into sardar patel through aieee.

Its not so much as an appreciation for my kind of books but rather a lack thereof. Luckily, my parents let me pick my stream and they are ok with anything. Its just the teachers and friends who are unsupportive, probably because they care but idk…And yes, how can you discuss existensialism(i think thats the pronounciation) with people who think Chetan Bhagat Novels are amazing???

chetan bhagat is total shyte

I am not familiar with that term lol

You can’t discuss anything with people who think Chetan Bhagat is good. No offence, though, to anyone but Chetan Bhagat.

@Quasi, heh, TiT is so full of love. I feel warm and fuzzy.

Chetan Bhagat SUCKS!

YOU TELL THEM, tetris.

shyte=s.hit in an irish accent :)

Existentialism. Anyone like Sartre?

I had to fight like the dickens to take Humanities, with my teachers. My parents were OK with it, and most of my friends were surprised that I even considered anything else. :)

I actually think the Chetan Bhagat phenomenon is a good thing. Anything that makes people who wouldn’t otherwise read, even if what they’re reading is total shyte, is a good thing.

Except for Twilight of course, because that’s just dangerous to the minds of impressionable airhead-y teenage girls.

is it just me or are people on CC really awesome?

Haha, the people on CC are awesome ;)

and lol at shyte

i have a friend who is 19 and she cooes over twilight like its the best thing since the creation of man. sickening.

Lol shyte makes me think of Ewan McGregor. Siiiigh British guys.

Teachers are ALWAYS the problem when it comes to good students taking humanities. I don’t know why. It’s just ■■■■■■■■.

Quasi - YM?
