NYU notifies everyone the same day with a mass email. For regular decision it is April 1st…
D got a rejection from Indiana yesterday.
D got an acceptance artistically from Catholic. No word on school acceptance so we are not counting that as a go yet.
D Otterbein “no” yesterday via email…
@HappyDancer98 and @CTDramaMom, so sorry for the bad news, fingers crossed that acceptances come in soon! R’s do suck! I couldn’t imagine pursuing a career where I had to to set myself up to be judged constantly and yet in this industry our kids will be auditioning and experiencing rejection far more often than they will be cast and working. Here’s hoping that all of our kids get into a program that makes them happy and gives them the training they need to succeed in this competitive business.
@crc500 @mtmcmt I feel your pain! I hope better news arrives sooner rather than later. Congrats on the artistic acceptance at Catholic @mtmcmt! Hoping the academic acceptance is right around the corner for your D. It’s hard to wait for all these pieces to come together.
@ohmtmom I know Ball State waits until their last auditon is complete. That is next weekend. They usually start making calls (at least that’s what they did last year) or sending emails the first week of March.
@HappyDancer98 thank you! I wish all schools would give an answer at the same time. @MTRaleighmom thanks! Is your child at Ball State? How is that program? @crc500 I’m sorry to hear that! Did d/s audition on campus?
Thanks, @Autmlvs615! Aside from having absolutely no MT/drama talent, I can see from this process that I would not be able to cut it in this field. Somehow our kids, D included, take it and roll. Sure she cried yesterday A LOT. But then a few hours later she told me not to worry. She’s strong and even-tempered. That will carry her far. Now if she can get a job this summer waiting tables so she can practice a survival job, she’ll be all set!
And with every piece of bad news, hopefully there is some good. Today D got a hold from one of her top schools.
Thank you, @HappyDancer98 ! Catholic can be tricky on academics; I know some regular students who were at the B+ level and got rejected so we can only hope.
@HappyDancer98 I don’t know what program you heard from but I was less than impressed with two of the “top tens.” I could tell a lot by the way their representatives acted at unifieds, the way they treated people in the auditions, and the way they roll out acceptances adondon’t
And don’t give notice to everyone at the same time.
The schools that give out notices at the same time are in the minority. The vast majority do it over time.
Penn State was the program she was rejected from.
I got redirected to the ba program by Indiana yesterday. I am taking it as a positive thing. But does anyone know if they redirect everyone and just some people? Oh, new on here so hello everyone. Your input is what is getting me through this hectic process.
@ohmtmom she auditioned at Chicago Unifieds.
I think it’s good to tell a candidate if he/she is a definite “No” right away. That helps a candidate re-tool and move on. I don’t like the dribbling out of acceptances.
Great blog post to share with your kids at this time… about selection vs rejection. https://anemptyhouseblog.■■■■■■■■■■■■■/2016/01/29/the-myth-of-rejection/
@Aiming4Success, there is no audition required for a BA theatre degree at IU. So, if you get into the school academically, you can be in the BA program.
