Yeah many Coastals were sent tonight. I didn’t apply, but I’ve heard of a lot of acceptances tonight.
Sorry @4Kids4Me I’m pulling for your D! The waiting is so hard. Good thoughts coming your way!
Same for you, @craz4mtsmom and @rocsocks and all those who are waiting and waiting and waiting. I sure hope good news hits your mailbox soon!
After many (and I mean like count on 2 hands many) rejections and one wait list- my D finally got her first MT offer from Coastal! We are beyond thrilled as Coastal has remained in her top 5 throughout this process. We are waiting for about 6 more schools, but we can finally breathe now and relax. As my D said over and over tonight- “I’m going to college Mom, I am actually going to college!”
@stagedoormama Yay! Congrats!!
That is wonderful @stagedoormama!!!
@stagedoormama I know that good feeling lol! Just the fact you have somewhere to go, not to mention such a great program! Congrats! Sending some good vibes for the 6 so you’ll maybe have the luxury of choosing. That’s the real treat LOL
@stagedoormama great news!
@stagedoormama such awesome news!!! So thrilled for your daughter!
@stagedoormama your post was so sweet. As someone said above, all these kids have given up so many things to prepare for these opportunities, but now that we are almost there the emotions run high and low. So happy for you! My D said the same thing…“I am actually going to college!” Though the academic acceptances were easy, to these kids it does not matter unless the “other” acceptance is there.
@stagedoormama - congrats!!!
Most excellent news @stagedoormama !
HIP-HIP-HOORAY @stagedoormama!!! That’s AWESOME NEWS!!! We’ve heard fab things about Coastal’s program plus your D really wanted it!!! Hugs all the way around!!!
Yay!!! @stagedoormama congrats!!!
@stagedoormama - congratuations to your family! That is the best news to get and it seriously makes me so happy to hear for people. This process is grueling and nonsensical in many ways. I hate seeing kids get down and hearing good news like this is awesome! Have a GREAT day and here is to many more acceptances coming your D’s way!
Congrats @stagedoormama! I have heard wonderful things about Coastal Carolina.
I think the wording in this rejection letter sums up what we’re all experiencing…“The level of talent among applicants this year has been exceptionally high, and competition for the limited number of openings in our programs has increased. As a result, we are unable to offer a place to all of our qualified applicants.” I have seen so many kids posting about all the rejections they are receiving and they are feeling down and questioning if they misjudged their talent or what they want to do. While it doesn’t make the rejections any easier, I appreciated this wording because it reminds us that a rejection from a school is not necessarily a reflection of someone’s talent and qualifications for a program, it’s just a bitter reality of the numbers. Maybe in a different year, the results would have been or will be different since it’s all based on who you are auditioning against, who knows. But if this is your passion, never give up! Maybe you didn’t get one of the coveted spots in your favorite program, but there are alot of great programs out there and many other paths to success.
Like they say, @stagedoormama, it only takes one! Congrats to everyone getting good news, and hang in there for those (like us) still waiting on a few schools.
Well said @MTMom98, Univ of Michigan sends out a classy rejection letter. It doesn’t really soften the blow, but it doesn’t add insult to injury either. Chin up to everyone still waiting–soon enough this torture will be over and we can get on with our lives.
I appreciate that wording too @MTMom98! I think the best word I can come up with for this process is “Mysterious.” It is very hard not to take it personally when you are rejected and especially when you get multiple rejections but, honestly, rejection is the name of the game here. I despise that. There are so many factors that have absolutely nothing to do with talent in this process. D has been rejected by schools and accepted by others. Why? No idea, the schools don’t tell you either way. Luck is certainly a part of it. I honestly could never put myself out there and do what these kids do. I wouldn’t last a day and I honestly know very few who could handle what they handle – all the juggling, all the vulnerability, day in, day out. So hats off to all of these kids!!! Way to go!!! And, to all the parents and kids still waiting for an acceptance, or maybe a favorite one, we are all pulling for you!!!
