@destiny95 Have you tried contacting them to ask about it? I still haven’t gotten a letter, but I figured that’s because I live across the country from Ohio. Or maybe they just haven’t sent all the letters yet? Who knows…
@littlebean37 I just emailed Victoria Oleen!
The letter from Wright finally came in the mail today. It was a no, but I was 100% expecting that, as my audition went very poorly. However, my school did super well at our state thespian festival this week, so that balances it out a little bit
My daughter’s Wright State rejection came yesterday too, along with the financial aid letter because of her academic admission showing this would have been by far our most affordable option. Ouch.
Hugs to you and your D @Fotokat! That’s hard to take. I’m sorry. I’m hoping there’s better news soon. Today might be a good day for chocolate.
@Fotokat right there with you! Keep the faith. You will see good things soon.
Rejections are hard to take. Even if you have an acceptance or two. My D seems to think rejections from OU, Pace, Emerson takes away from her acceptances to AMDA and Molloy/CAP21. Waiting on BOSCO. I keep trying to tell her, you put yourself out there for some of the most selective college there are. You can’t expect everyone to say yes. Not every actress gets every part they audition for. She is very excited in her acceptances, but with each decline it seems to knock her confidence down a notch. Im just ready for BOSCO to come through this week one way or another, so we can be done, and start working on accepting offers and figuring out how to pay for the next 4 years… LOL
Is there a thread for the final decisions for the class of 2020?
Venting- sorry- I can deal with the rejections in MT for my d… I know it is so hard and we are lucky to have some good acceptances and wait lists… But I am SOOOO annoyed that she got a spring acceptance (not fall) for strictly academics from elon. She is #1 in her class with a 4.2 (all aps) and her SATs are 2100. Even though she wouldn’t go if it wasn’t for MT- that felt like a huge sting…I am probably just way too sensitive at this point- but she doesn’t need an academic “wait list” or wait until spring (whatever that means) on top of all the other stress. AGAIN- sorry! Just too much right now. On the bright side of life- saw Hamilton this weekend and Elise Renee remembered my d and asked how auditions were going. Ok- I will positive from here on out- just venting
@sleepymom we are right there with you. My D. got an academic waitlist from Elon too. With a 4.3 GPA and 31 ACT, this is the only school she applied to that she wasn’t academically accepted to. We were shocked and irritated, then did our best to say “whatever” since she’d already received her MT rejection, but it really stung after several other MT rejections over the past few weeks.
Hey…mine got the same spring acceptance! I thought it was odd too…has been accepted academically to every other school to which she has applied. No biggie, she did not get MT acceptance though.
@sleepymom - My D didn’t apply to Elon, but felt the same way when she was waitlisted at Brandeis and rejected at Oberlin, which she felt were academically feasible (not safeties but not reaches either) alternatives if she didn’t get into an audition program. They came at very stressful times too. We have since been told by several reliable people that some schools are tracking if you are FAFSA applicants, and if you are, your grades/scores have to be even higher to get admitted. Couple that with the fact that we had never visited either school (they like you to show interest) - well, it was a sting, but also a sign that she was doing the right thing by sticking with her BFA choices. College admissions is a much different animal than it was when I applied!
I’m wondering if Elon is just doing that because they know you probably won’t come due to the lack of an MT acceptance…so they want to save space for the people they know will be more likely to matriculate in the fall. I bet if you really wanted to go there and called them they’d move your acceptance to fall real quick. It’s a theory.
I wonder if some of these schools actually know what these MT kids are really like. OU and Pace have both academically accepted and given hefty scholarships to my D, but both rejected her MT, so she’s like whatever why would I be interested in you if I cant get in your BFA program. Yet, they are the two that are harassing her the most through mail and email…
@choirsandstages - that is likely …
re: Elon, the same thing happened to our D. We were able to talk to an admissions rep via a family member and were told it is customary for them to waitlist MT kids until Spring no matter how strong of a candidate they are. It is because they are very aware most MT candidates will not choose to attend if they are not accepted in the MT program.
As soon as S got rejections from Pace and Elon, we immediately withdrew him. No point since he would never consider either of them for anything but MT. We plan on doing the same with any other rejections where they don’t automatically decline academic acceptance at the same time as the MT one…
I feel it is highly likely that is what Elon did since those of you posting basic “stats” for your kids who got the spring academic acceptance to Elon were beyond what would be needed to get admitted to Elon. Colleges care about their yield and likely didn’t want to waste an offer on a MT kid who didn’t get into the BFA program, thinking that the student is unlikely to attend, BUT since the student was so strong academically, would welcome them in spring if the student truly wanted to still attend. So, explain that to your kids. It is not like their academic profile was not up to snuff (those who shared it here).
I’m trying to find out if the Miami letter we got is the same thing. We received a letter saying that she is waitlisted from admissions. We have not received an artistic decision but I’m assuming it means she’s rejected. Just find myself wondering if it means she’s waitlisted artistically since we haven’t been told the artistic decision.
