What does the rest of the letter say? Are they rescinding her MT offer – which this second letter confirms that they made – or are they merely suggesting a redirect? I’d certainly be calling them if I were you!
@momma2four We also received an email from TCU about 3 weeks ago that said Congratulations on your BFA MT acceptance then went on to say the same thing “We are aware that you auditioned for the Musical Theatre emphasis, but we believe that the Acting emphasis is the best fit for you at this time.” My son immediately emailed the department and was told it was a mistake and he had definitely been accepted into the MT program. So I would reach out to them, sounds like it could be the same situation. The department was great when my son emailed to check. Hope this helps.

SUNY Purchase…awaiting response
My D is devastated and I am kicking myself because I just didnt know that we needed to apply to so many schools. Has anyone had experience with auditioning the second year. We are thinking that if she does not get SUNY Purchase, then we will possibly do UCF and then have her audition next year. She really, really wants to be in NYC.
Has anyone heard from Purchase College?
@toowonderful , yes she did ED. After you apply and get the rejection, she (on her own) called the admissions person and spoke to them.
@MommaOfArtist28 -wecome to CC. This is the musical theater board (and is more active than the straight drama board). But there is an theater/drama board where you may get more response…Purchases doesn’t have MT I don’t think. I have seen one post on the accepted students list over on the theater forum for Purchase. So I think they may have started notifying. My daughter didn’t apply there so I don’t know much about it. Good luck. (to find the acting forum, go to forum home and look under college majors for theater/drama majors). I think there may even be a thread going for SUNY Purchase.
From what I can tell some have heard from Purchase and others are still waiting. Phone calls went out to those accepted and letters to those who were rejected. Waitlist has not come out yet. My daughter was in the same boat as yours was two years ago. We applied to the wrong schools and not enough of them. Can’t give you any advice on readutioning the following year. Hang in there

@bisouu , Thank you. Did your daughter fare well? Did she end up in a school that she feels challenges her? We did not get a phone call, but still hopefull!
My daughter is thriving! She ended up coming off the wait list of her #1 school but by then she had fallen in love with her safety. She is a big fish in a little pond, leading roles in main stage shows as a freshman, writing her own plays to be produced and having the time of her life. She feels challenged and engaged in the whole process of becoming a complete actor.
So the rest of the letter doesn’t specifically rescind the MT offer but it has a Theater Grant money offer which says she needs to be a theater major to get it.
If TCU is not making some kind of an inadvertent mistake, then I’m not too impressed with that tactic.
I wish someone at Miami could tell me if the waitlist letter we received yesterday is a waitlist for the program, I assume it is not. I call the theatre department today and she had no idea.
@MommaOfArtist28 - interesting. It has been my experience (my D is a sophomore at NYU) that they do not give feedback on applications/auditions
Anyone still waiting on Hartt?
So glad to hear the CMU decisions will be released on Saturday. Not that I’m expecting good news, but that these results will start the domino effect. All 2500 or whatever CMU applicants will know where they stand, make their decisions, take themselves out of the picture, and open spaces for wait list candidates! Getting closer!

@momma2four did you get it cleared up? Received the same email this month, after being accepted MT back in December and they quickly emailed back that it was a mistake and S was definitely MT
We are still waiting on Hartt - heard a rumor on CC that someone was out on medical leave and that slowed things down a bit. Hoping that mail/email/portal watch 2016 is wrapped up by the end of this week. Then we can get on to decision making time (which is way more fun than waiting).
