@destiny95 glad its not just us
Yea and I know several in the same boat! It seems inconsistent as far as a time line is concerned with when you auditioned, I think they are just coming out super randomly. They did tell me snail mail though. @craz4mtsmom
We are still waiting on Hartt and Syracuse and know of a good friend who is in the same boat. Hopefully all done by the end of this weekend based on assurances from the admissions offices (but know how reliable those can sometimes be ). :)]
We have not heard from Hartt artistically or academically anyone else still waiting for academic acceptance as well? I am having my D follow up today because she not heard anything from either…if you have been academically accepted how did you receive that info?
@craz4mtsmom Hartt came in one large thick envelope with a single acceptance. I know other people got accepted via email.
D is also still waiting on Hartt, Illinois Wesleyan, Western Michigan and NYU. She was academically accepted to Western and students keep calling. They have a hard time understanding why she really does not want to talk until she gets the BFA news.
Our Hartt acceptance was also one large envelope through snail mail back in February.
Well, we got the snail mail letter from Montclair today. No to the BFA. But the letter invites my D to attend as undeclared and meet with department to reapply (re-audition). Is this kind of a form letter or might there be an actual chance to do a BFA at Montclair? Anyone have any experience or information about this?
I recall that my daughter received the same letter last year.
@craz4mtsmom did Hartt tell you what was going on?
@GSOMTMom did she go to Montclair? And if so, what happened?
@emdpraze We got the same letter and figured it was a way of getting my D to enroll in another major so we discarded it.
Finally heard from Syracuse today, a rejection via email. At this point the no wasn’t even stressful, we’re just so happy to have one more piece of the puzzle. Now my D. is just waiting for Montclair.
For Montclair - is it a good idea to do a BA in Theatre with a Musical Theatre minor, and try audtioning again for the BFA? We are still waiting to hear about two auditioned BAs and one non-audition BA at a school my D is excited about. Would they be better choices, since she would know going in exactly what program she is doing?
No, she didn’t. She wasn’t interested in attending for another major.
Just got the Syracuse rejection here, too, but it’s fine as he’s happy with his current choices.
@emdpraze At a different school that my S auditioned at, someone asked if their child really liked the school and wanted to go there and didn’t get into the BFA program, could they still go there and do the BA program and then re-audition the next year for the BFA program. The response from the program admissions person was a) there is no guarantee that you will be accepted if you re-audition so make sure your child will be happy in the BA program and b) if they are accepted into the BFA program later, they have to start as a freshman, so make sure you are prepared for a longer than 4 year college experience and the associated expenses. So if it were me, I’d clarify if a student transfers from BA to BFA whether they have to start over and I’d also have your D make her decision based on the BA program at Montclair compared to the other BA programs she’s considering, not the potential of the BFA program.
@emdpraze - I would only go to a school if I knew I would be happy with the offer currently in hand. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee your D will be admitted to the BFA next year. As you know, the odds are always pretty low for admittance to any BFA. So the question your D should ask herself is, will I be happy at this school no matter what? Or would she be happier at one of her other choices? There is no wrong answer. It really is up to her. But I wouldn’t go to a school based on the hope of something that may or may not happen if you would not be happy there otherwise.
We are at Hartt now. D got snail mail acceptance in Feb. I am thinking that if you have not heard yet, you may be on the short waiting list and notified if anyone declines? I guess they all have to say something soon though!
@mtmomofone if you don’t mind me asking, when did your D audition? And congrats!
