The Law School Admission Game:

Law School Admission Game: Play Like an Expert by Ann Levine.
Did anyone read this book? or her consultation? It saids that she was a former director of two ABA law schools. I dont know if thats significant....anyone? or anyone can comment on Anna Ivey book or her consulting packages. thanks

Truthfully, most of these books are probably unnecessary. Law school admissions is usually pretty straightforward and Internet will mostly suffice.

I disagree a bit with Mike. I’d recommend “How to Get into a Top Law School” by Montauk and Klein. I think it helps to read some good personal statements.

I agree with Mike. Get a high LSAT, and a good GPA. Just saved you 20 bucks.

I bought the Montauk book and “Law School Confidential,” so it’s a little hypocritical of me not to recommend them. And I don’t think they’re terrible purchases. I didn’t really use them, though.

I recently bought “The Best Law Schools’ Admissions Secrets” by Joyce Curll, who used to be an admissions officer at HLS. She left me with the very distinct impression that adcomms care a good deal about an applicant’s personal statement, extracurriculars, and difficulty of undergrad course selection. She also claims on page 123 that, “Applicants tend to think the LSAT trumps all other factors, but it counts less than you think” and that, when she reviewed the files of HLS applicants who had received “the top score on the LSAT”, fewer than 40% of them were actually admitted. I sincerely hope she is full of crap, and suspect that she probably is; however, her book has spooked me a bit.

It’s not a perfectly clean split, obviously. But if you compared it to college applications or any other kind of school, they would all marvel at how clean the statistical split is. In particular, notice how hard it is to get rejected when you’re at 176/3.84 or above. And how hard it is to get in once you’re at 172 or lower.

Hey thanks for all your comments!! just wondering if anyone bought the consultation packages with either Ann Levine or Ivey. If anyone did please will you comment??

Honestly I like the top-law-schools forum for good information on this. The people here a lovely, but the people there a bit more active.
