The List of the Best AP History & Social Sciences Review Book

Hey guys. I’m trying to do something like this since there are millions of threads about the best AP review book:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-subject-tests-preparation/358168-list-best-review-books.html

please recommend a book if you know that it is good from your own experience, and you can recommend several books if you want to.
i will reorganize and finalize the list at the end and post another thread later. Thank you!

AP History & Social Sciences

AP Art History:
AP European History:
AP Government:
AP Human Geography:
AP Macro & Microeconomics:
AP Psychology:
AP U.S History:
AP World History:

AP US History: AMSCO + Direct Hits
AP Psychology:Barron’s

AP Comparative Government: Ethel Woods
AP World History: Princeton Review
AP HUman Geography: Princeton Review

AP World History: Kaplan (its their only good prep book)

No, trust me, World History… PRINCETON REVIEW

AP US: Kaplan. They divide the info into small chunks and give a diagnostic quiz and short quizzes at the end of each section, in addition to other full-length tests.
For a quick review: crash course

AP European History: Crash Course and Modern European History
What’s the best for AP US Government and Politics?

■■■■■ - your probably right too :D.

well, the teacher in my school who wrote the AP American Princeton Review book and teaches and AP World class recommended that book, so I would trust her opinion…

AP U.S. History: Direct Hits (Best), AMSCO (Incredible), Crash Course (Also Incredible). DH + AMSCO + CC = Super overkill for a 5.

AP European History: Princeton Review (Awesome), Crash Course (Incredible). I’ve heard amazing things about Modern European History. Princeton + CC = 5, though.

AP World History: I was really impressed with both Barron’s and Princeton, but I’ve only taken the SAT II with those.

AP US Gov- Barron’s + Barron’s flashcards definitely
APUSH- not sure about best, Kaplan is fine + Kaplan’s flashcards
AP Psych- 5 Steps to a 5 is what I used, but Barron’s is also very good, and Barron’s flashcards

AP World: Princeton serves just great.
AP Euro: Princeton (if you lack a good teacher, or history is not your best subject), Crash Course (if you have the background info., good for cramming), Modern European History (if you need that supplemental reading)
AP Psych: Barron’s, hand’s down.

I’m currently using PR for Macro/Micro, but it’s a little weird. No chapters, just Macro and Micro sections with subdivisions within each. I seems to be pretty good, though. I just find the format awkward.

How about both governments and human geography?

^See my post above. For AP US Gov, I said Barron’s book and flashcards.

I don’t know what to use for Comp Gov though, sorry.

AP Comparative Government: Ethel Woods

[Ap Comparative Government and Politics: a Study Guide, 3rd Edition by Ethel Wood (Used, New, Out-of-Print) - Half Price Books Marketplace](http://www.hpbmarketplace.com/booksearch?qwork=-97434813&matches=9&keyword=ethel+woods&cm_sp=works*listing*title)

any more opinions about books for human geography? So far these are the easiest self-study books:

Psych - Barron’s
US Gov - Barron’s with flashcards
Comp Gov - Ethel Woods

I’ve also heard that 5 steps to a 5 or Crash Course, one of the two, is really good for both econs, I think its McGraw Hill’s

AP US Government: I just used PR and a bunch of practice tests like online and got a 5. It covers mostly everything, and if you take the class it’s a good supplement.

AP Macro & Microeconomics: I used PR here as well for both and got a 5. I took the Micro class so the book was good review, but I self studied Macro and I felt as if it didn’t cover everything that was on the test. I heard 5 steps was pretty good. I think PR would be best if you use it as a supplement but if your self studying try to find other resources in addition to PR. O I also used the Crash Course CD for both of them, it sucked.

AP Psychology: Barrons + Barrons flashcards = study the week before the test and get a 5. It was really useful, and sometimes it seemed like they got some of the definitions from Barrons itself.

AP U.S History: I used AMSCO and Crash Course and got a pretty easy 5.

AP World History: I used Kaplan and surprisingly got a 5, but I looked over PR and I think the test would’ve been much easier if I used that instead of Kaplan.

USH is usually best done with a combination of books. I used Kaplan, Barrons, and REA to get a 5.

Barron’s for Psych and PR for World History.

I myself did not use a prep book for AP US Gov, but my sister used Barron’s and she thought it was useful.
