I'm a recent grad who had an interview on Monday for a full-time research assistant position. As it'll soon be a week since I've heard from the organization, (not counting the response I got to my follow-up/thank you email) I'm trying to remain positive about the possibility of still getting an offer.

So, I'm curious: What's the longest it's taken a company to get back to you after an interview, where you've actually received a job offer?

For a software engineer with a security clearance, 1-2 years of work experience, and pursing a MS Computer Science part time, the longest was 1-2 weeks after the interview. The shortest was 2-3 hours after an interview.

Took me about a year for my engineering job. Had my interview but took almost a year to get my security clearance and then received a job offer.

A week is normal. It depends on where you are in their interviewing process. If you were the first person they interviewed it could take a couple weeks. I would just send an email or call and ask about their timeline.

a month. sometimes they have a bunch of people to interview and a bunch of hoops to jump through. sometimes they are waiting to see who really wants the job by following up. i got one job after about 6 weeks when I called to ask “have you already hired someone? i just want to know if I should keep you on my list of possibilities or not.” then he hired me. later on i realized that boss did everything that way. got started, but never finished anything until pushed. i’m not recommending pushing–it’s early!! but if enough time goes by, you can call and see if the job is still open.
