YES silence
same here
I told no soul. I am the only person who knows

cafesimone, I disagree. I'd much rather my friends and family be knowledgeable enough about college admissions to say "Well, it's a crapshoot, but I think you've got just as good of a chance as anybody!" rather than "Psh, Yale? You'll get in for sure."

Then, I have to explain that the admission percentage this year might be 6%, and about the average scores, grades, and ECs of people who get in. It's a pain.

It's just going to make April 1st that much worse when they all say "so you got in yesterday, right?" :(

Hopefully Hookem there'll be two new Texans in CT come this fall.

Imagine if we were accepted... We would be a part of that tiny, tiny percentage... 6%.... Isn't that amazing?

Yale had a 13.762% acceptance rate only five years ago.

Source: Statistics from the 2003 America's Best Colleges
by U.S. News & World Report for 2001-2 freshman class.

5 years from now.... 3%? Would that be possible?

^actually would improve. yale will be adding to enrollment and building new RCs.

what was the acceptance rate 20 years ago? 30 years ago? Might the average CCer, with nearly perfect scores and good ECs, be almost certain of admission back then? How much harder has it truly gotten? Or does the age of the common app artificially deflate the acceptance rate?

Well the article from the yale daily news posted and acceptance rate of about 7.3 or 7.7%.

@ fastfood, if the average CCer (male, of course) applied to Yale 50 years ago, he would be more certain of acceptance than the fact that the sun would rise. Then, he'd just have to figure out how to pay for it ;)

Wouldn't a 50% "Yalie regular" acceptance rate be AWESOME?
Hahahaha I like how that one person (I don't remember who, sorry) said that our hours poured into CC should help us somehow get into Yale :)
That's a good theory!

I think a few of us may get in, but I'm definitely not counting myself among that few.
coughIndiaRubberandButternutwillgetincough
:D

Ah, just imagine how many of will be eviscerated and culled.... Sigh :(

On a different note, only (quite exactly) 16 more days until the end of our suffering :)

Have you ever noticed that during a boring class, time seems to go more slowly when you keep looking at the clock?

the 11,000th view!!!

Asiantofu- and yet we still log on to CC at least once a day.

ChandlerBling- I'm flattered, but I'm also about to be rejected. No way I'm getting in.

I like the idea of CC hours helping us get in. How cool would that be to put on the Common App? "Yale College Confidential Forum, 791 posts, 10 hours a week/ 52 weeks a year"

There are 52 weeks in a year, right? :p

^ agreed.
Oh! He loves us so much. Look at his posts.
I think my Yale spirit would be a plus. I am an ugly female bulldog. ----**___----

ChandlerBing: I would like to echo Butternut's statement, and also say that whatever happens, I've made some fantastic friends on this board... which makes all the hours spent on CC well worth it.

I love you guys!:)

^ agreed
I thinik we should all meet
But that is as much sense as saying I dunno wut. So not gonna happen

That would so funny if we all met.... and then we would discover our real names, instead of calling each other "bluewhitebulldog", etc.

Lol
bluewhitebulldog
LOL
Yeah, and if I meet hookem, it would be funny.
"YOU! You said you pity me? I will show you pity!"
LOL

I love all you guys too, you're amazing people and I think it would be absolutely amazing to ALL go to Yale together.
And they walked happily ever after into the sunset....
