The Meaning of Bump

ok... i asked this but didn't get an answer... so, what does bump mean?

On the message boards here, the threads are listed in order of most recent reply. If no one replies to a thread, then eventually it gets moved down the page, or onto the second page of threads. "Bumping" a thread by posting something sends it to the top of the page where the likelihood of someone reading it is increased.

Let me add that I don't like "bumping" at all and that I will usually erase them. I feel they are sloppy and totally lacking in effort and creativity. They also seem unfair, kind of like voting twice in the same election.
I believe that a post gets exactly as much feedback as it deserves. Therefore, if you want a lot of responses, write better queries.

Bump literally stands for "Bring Up My Post"

what does LAC stand for?

how do you quote someone else's words?(that posted on the topic you're on?)
