So...you should all come to Milton because we all rock hard...Kthnx!

No for real, ask questions in here, whether for advice about which courses to take, how to get in (probably can't help you there but I'll try my best,) WHY to go here instead of Andover (pfft), Exeter or St. Paul's, or whatever else you could possibly want to know.

I got into Milton but didn't end up going. :( Anyway, anything you'd like to say about Milton? What is Milton's Special Character compared to other schools?

It's not that I chose another school. It's just that my parent's said I would go to whatever school gave me the most financial aid. my last choice ended up being the one that provided the most aid. Ha

oh man some of you all need to CHILLAX! Obviously, I do not actually use the term "hollaback," but this is supposed to be a lighthearted thread. Let's stay positive. K thanks.

Milton's campus is, I believe, significantly smaller than Andover's and Exeter's, but that is more than compensated for by the fact that the MBTA station is about a ten minute walk away. You really cannot beat the location, I believe.

Our athletics pretty much suck and there is almost no school spirit for athletics, though the athletes try to change that every year. We are definitely an artists' school.

The Academics are going to be world class at Milton, Exeter or Andover. I guess Exeter is more math/science oriented, or so it seems, Andover is balanced, and Milton is weighted towards the liberal arts (our science program definitely leaves a lot to be desired, but almost no one lists science as his favorite subject.)

What really makes Milton stand out is its arts department. Almost everyone sings, dances, paints, sculpts, acts or excels at a combination of those. The Creative Writing program turns more than half of participants into national award winning, published poets or fiction writers, and is widely recognized as the best in the country. Milton teaches you how to think more than anything. Our history classes almost never mention dates, but rather ideas and concepts in a chain reaction. Even in math, we do not learn something and then receive 50 practice problems. We are given one problem, and we must learn the concept through our efforts to solve that problem. This might be true of most NE Prep schools, however.

basically everyone has laptops, i know two people with desktops and it gets annoying for them to bring it back and forth. most people have pc's but i have a mac, the only thing i dont like about it is the word processor, but i dont like using word processors on all laptops

mboyle - are you a boarder or a day student? Can you describe the interactions of the 2 groups? I know some will not consider Milton for the high % of day students despite it's steller reputation.

Oh god, milton has an MBTA station? I'm so jealous. At Exeter I pray thanks to whatever force allowed amtrak to put in its downeaster eastern corridor rail service (against the dark forces of automobile anti-rail lobbying), but I always curse the fact we don't properly have access anywhere. Living a 5 minute walk from the green line back home makes it hurt all the more.
