The MOB/MOG Dress Extravaganza!

Deleted

For me, it is the style that matters most. V neck or halter - yes, round neck or cowl neck - just no. Although I did set my color boundaries - no forest green.

As I mentioned earlier, kids were dead set on a hotel ballroom/courtyard space but went for a very rustic venue instead at the last minute. Dress plans had to be adjusted accordingly.

I know! I was excited when I found it and it fit right off the rack! Alas, it was waaay too delicate for a farm venue. I kept it just in caseā€¦ maybe I will trash it in Napa while doing a winery crawl.

Yes, the uneven rough ground of the bricked courtyard are another reason Iā€™m preferring a knee-length dress over a floor length. It would sadden me to have a bunch of snags (that might show up in photos). Since my dress was <$50, I will likely keep it since Iā€™m not sure S and fiancĆ©e will communicate about garment preferences before my deadline to return the dress.

Thatā€™s gorgeous!

I have nothing against yellow, per seā€™ - itā€™s just a GHASTLY color for me.

Iā€™m sure you will rock it whenever and wherever you wear it!

I love Monique Lhuillierā€™s style. Her wedding dresses are gorgeous. Yellow is definitely not my color.

Itā€™s a gorgeous cheery yellow color and style @BunsenBurner. I donā€™t think yellow is my color either, but it looks great on many.

Ok, will stick with this dress for now and I have black sandals and shoes that would be OK with the dress. May need to figure out whether to get a new wrap or stick with one I already own.

The ā€œsave the dateā€ will arrive in our mailbox today, so Iā€™m thinking of sending them a photo and H and me in our proposed wedding garments this weekend and asking them what they think.

Yay, we received the ā€œsave the dateā€ for the wedding, with the request for everyone to RSVP to the wedding. Iā€™ve never seen a save the date that combined the two. They have an attractive Zola website. They do indicate no children in the FAQs.

In our envelope, we also received a save the date card for my mom and one for D, each in a separate envelope.

They stated attire is Aloha/Cocktail and donā€™t mention any wedding party/attendants. They list hours of event and venue and date, some hotels, airport and parking options.

I will proceed with my plan to send them a photo of us in our planned wedding attire this weekend.

Then I would just add a fun ā€œalohaā€ cotton scarf/shawl to your blue sparkly dress and get a similar tie for DH.

Cruiser933 - I like that elegant red dress!

That dress is pretty, HIMom and looks very flattering!

Yay, bride approved dress so Iā€™m mostly done, other than a wrap for any chilliness.

@HImom when the son of a cousin got married they sent a save the date in January for an Aug wedding. It included RSVP request and hotel information. Another invite was not sent. I thought it odd but it worked. Glad youā€™re set for a dress.
The scarf @ChoatieMom linked is very nice.

Yes, that is an attractive scarf. I have a ton of scarvesā€”I can likely find one that works out of my current collection.

D2 used Zola, too. It worked out very well. They also had a bridal registry on it (some older people not going insisted on it- and that was very helpful). It had the ability to change after wedding and weekend events- watersports, pub crawl, etc.

I linked that scarf because I liked the pattern, but I was Googling for shawls. There were plenty of those, too, in bright patterns that would certainly match an ā€œalohaā€ theme and keep off any chill as well. Lots of scarves are large/heavy enough to do double-duty.

What? No new dresses or shoes to look at?

Iā€™ll be shopping stores soon, once I have more MOG parameters from bride/MOB. But it has been fun to look online, with a ton of dresses (even petite) at Macyā€™s website. Invitation specifies Garden Semi-formal and encourages the guests to wear florals and bright colors (but avoid lavender if possible since that is the bridesmaid color).

Well, I got my dress approved by bride so now only have to think about whether to get some wrap or another and what Iā€™d like.

Have not communicated with MOB nor do i know wedding colors or if there will be any attendants.

We will be going wedding dress shopping for D1 next month when the MOG is in town from the east coast. I already told D1 that if MOG finds a dress she loves and D1 approves then she should get it and not worry about me finding my dress first. I love D1ā€™s future MIL so there are no issues with who gets their dress first.
