I know it’s generally less expensive to buy textbooks online, rather than at the bookstore. I also have heard that the earlier you buy the less money you will pay–books are less in demand weeks before the semester starts. Is there any way to find out what textbooks you need for your classes come fall? Do you have to wait until you receive the syllabus from the professor. I just want to have all my bases covered and know my options so I can get the best deal.

I’m going to be a freshman come September, by the way.

you can use this link to get your books Boston College Bookstore - Textbooks for MAIN
however, the books aren't listed yet, so you really cant buy your books right now. What i normally do is buy the textbooks at the beginning of the semester, and then buy the more expensive books online at a discount and then return the books i purchased from the bookstore.

I sometime email professors I know and ask them for the syllabus or the book list of the class. Most of them would tell me it.

You honestly don't need to buy the books asap. I would buy them after the first week since you'll know whether or not you'll drop/add a class.

I just go to the bookstore and write down all the ISBN numbers and buy them online. Don't ever buy a book at the bookstore. I did so freshman year and spent nearly $1500 for all of my books. The following year, spent around $300 while buying books online.

Thanks for the advice!
