Sam, I understood your meaning right from the start. I think your meaning was very clear. Some people are so quick to play the outraged, offended, politically correct snob card.

The irony is to be really PC, one shouldn't make assumption about one's sexual orientation. ;) If I weren't assumed to be straight (I actually thought I gave an obvious hint that I wasn't), my humor would be apparent. Honestly, I really wouldn't mind going to an all-male college.

I was away all summer working at a camp and missed this entire thread! I found it by searching for Deep Springs which has recently piqued my interest. I wanna join the arguing and support what I see as one of the most fantastic opportunities in education or otherwise. So now I'm bumping it to hopefully continue this dialog.

Wow, after reading and researching all this, I definitely feel like DS would've been an excellent place for me for those 2 years... Good job worthless HS advisers...

and how did that one kid go from DS to Princeton? Princeton doesn't take transfers...

When I was there, there were 7 7-week terms in the year, divided by one or two (sometimes three-week) breaks. No students were allowed to leave the COMPLETELY ISOLATED valley during the 7-week term. Somethimes we had dances, and there were community gatherings about once per week. Dances were interesting without women, but enjoyable.
