Does anyone know what this exam consists of ?
I might give it a try, but then again I wouldn't like to waste my Friday morning...

if you're good enough to place out of the course, just take it and get your A. it's a fun time if you get a good instructor, and you'll learn stuff that you wouldn't have thought about even if you've been a classical musician since you were 5.

...which I was, and I couldn't pass the test. Who the hell cares about anything before Bach or after Tchaikovsky? Bleh. At least the curriculum sticks to western music.

Well, I wanted to take something else that could be a prerequisite for a course I might be taking next semester. But now I may be better off going out for a spot of lunch instead!!

According to CULPA, my instructor, Andrew Haringer, is a VERY ardent one..., which can be a nightmare. I used to play instruments for years myself but certainly do not want to learn music theory or write term papers. Also, I completely agree with you; I wouldn't be interested in before Bach and after Tchaikovsky either.

Well, Jazz and Rock of course, but that's not really what this course is about and they're glazed over at the end of the course.
