I was recently invited to join this society and was wondering if any of you guys have any information about it; is it credible, a scam, significant for college applications, etc? Any feedback/your opinion would be awesome, thanks!

There have been multiple threads on the subject in the past - the general consensus is that it’s a scam and it does absolutely nothing for your college apps.

It is * absolutely * essential for top schools. Not a single one will let you in unless you give a random society your money so that you can write their name on your application. NSHSS shows dedication not found in any other EC, even USAMO, Intel ISEF, etc.

My daughter got this after living in Australia (not a US citizen) for a year soI called them and asked how they got her details. They purchase the mailing lists from the College board - SAT/PSAT so thats why you got the letter - the criteria is if you got over 1700 on your SAT or 200 on your PSAT or have a 3.2 GPA then everyone single person who sits these tests gets the offer. It in no way HELPS you or your children to pay this money and my advise is throw it away.

It’s a scam. I got an invitation sophomore year and my mom emailed one of the college counselors about it and she said it was fake, you shouldn’t have to pay to join any group like that.

I have a friend who isn’t good in school who got invited to join that. She was so excited and I just couldn’t tell her that it doesn’t mean anything.

I got a few invites from them and threw them all away lol
