Since they changed the new sat, if I got a 790 in math and a 740 in verbal on the old sat, should I expect to be about the same scores for the New SAT, or maybe will one go up and one go down. I know they changed the set up and some stuff got easier and other stuff got harder. From experience, what have you noticed about the scores from old to new.

Also, what is the best way to rase my writing score/what is the best book to use. Since I already have those two scorse to fall back on, I just want to make sure what my writing doesn't fall drastically behind. It definitely is my weakest area and if its anything like my PSATs were it will be around a 590.

I havn't taken the new SAT, but from what I've heard, the curves, especially on the math sections, have been much harsher than on the old SAT. Other people can probably better answer that question.

As for writing, I took the old SAT II Writing, and for me, the best preparation was practice. Go through the tests in the Blue book and also see if your school's counseling office has a collection of PSAT's that you can borrow to get practice for the writing section from. As for books, Strunk and White's Elements of Style is a good reference book to refer to when you have problems with a question (but it is not much of a prep book - I don't know what prep books are good for the writing)

the reading and math sections have both changed certain types of questions. If, for example, you did best at analogies on the verbal test, you probably won't score as well. Generally, however, your score should be similar.
