The NEW SAT

I would be interested to see some of the “New” SAT Scores from Candidates and what the Air Force Academy is looking at for acceptance.

This would affect the Class of 2010.

Thanks

I scored:

700 Critical Reading
660 Math
630 Writing
Essay:8

I don't know how that stacks up. I'd be interested to see other's scores as well.

700-m
680-cr
630-w
68 and a 6

Considering the academies are counting only m and cr...i'd say i did pretty decent.

Academies are only counting the math and critical reading sections? How do you know?

720-M
690-CR
710-W
Essay 9

man that math curve was brutal, 720 as a raw score of 50.....

"Academies are only counting the math and critical reading sections? How do you know?"

I went to an information session for west point and someone asked about the new sats. He said that they are going to use the score out of 1600 like in the past. He mentioned that the only time they will look at writing is if you did really good or really bad. Like most colleges, the academies are going to mainly look at m and cr. They are going to wait on thw writing until new data comes out. So for now, academies look at the score out of 1600 (m+cr)

The academies do not all follow the same procedures. Note that the Air Force and Coast Guard Academies are requiring the new writing portion of the ACT, while West Point and Annapolis say that it is not needed (go to actrs19.act.org/app3/writPrefRM/ and enter "United States" in the
box).

For me it was

M-660
W-730
CR-730
essay-11

How are people doing on the new SATs compared to the old ones?

I took the old ones and could never score above 580 no matter how many times i tried. I took the new one (last time was 6 months previous and was old one) and score 650. Has the bar been raised accordingly cause i dont think ive done any better (i took calc BC and no calc was on the SAT obviously...)
