Nothing in Southern California today. Received bulk mail postmarked January 18 from Omaha and January 20 from North Carolina, so feeling good, but I also wonder when the last date letters might appear is. No weather here slowing down the process.
the fact that very few people are reporting getting letters makes me anxious that they’re all going to come in the next few days…
Have never looked back at last year’s thread. How many people reported receiving letters last year (the early one you don’t want to receive)?
If there are only 1k that don’t make it, not sure how much crowd sourcing you can really do on CC.
Still have nothing here in the 'Sip. I wish I had never found out about these rejection letters, the anxiety is killing me.
You will all be NMF’s! Everyone’s a winner!
@LOUKYDAD I went through the thread yesterday and I found only 5 reports of letters(3 from students/parents that received the letters and 2 “my friend got a letter” reports). So the sample size is pretty meaningless, but for what its worth last year the letters were postmarked the 17th, and the last reported letter was received on the 23rd. This year the postmark was supposedly the 16th.
Anyone know when last years acceptance letters were mailed?
My daughter’s letter was dated Feb 13 and she received it in the mailbox a few days later.
Assuming dd makes NMF, as homeschoolers (and being in Iowa) we should get our letter around the same time as the principals start receiving theirs. At least you’ll know when you can start asking about it at school. ;))
I had done some research after my son became a NMSF and it sounded like unless you were a disciplinary problem, took the SAT and got everything turned in that becoming a NMF was just a formality. But after reading this thread I am totally sweating it now because he had a C+ once during his junior year. He has had an occasional B+. His weighted GPA is 4.3 and he got a 1550 (750/800) on the SAT. I am now super nervous. We live in Nebraska. Nothing in the mail yet though. Our son made playing soccer in college his focus so he has committed to a school which will either give him $7500/yr for a NMF on top of a Presidents Scholarship he already gets and possibly full tuition. They give 20 full tuition to NMF. So this is huge for him!
@Susan1323 The school transcripts usually don’t show quarterly grades, just final grades. So if that’s what you meant, you can relax. It’s probably ok even if the C+ was the final grade.
@prodesse My son’s school does block scheduling which means quarterly grades are basically semester grades but I’m hopeful since most everything else is strong.
Hey Mr Postman hear my plea, make sure my post box stays empty. Don’t want to see, no stupid letter. Till maybe 2 weeks and then I’ll feel better!
Mr. Dursley: Fine day, Sunday. In my opinion, best day of the week. And why is that, Dudley?
2018 Parents: Because there’s no post on Sundays?
Mr Dursley: Right you are, 18ers! No post on Sunday.
My friend received his rejection letter Friday, January 19th. He was expecting it, however. His GPA is a 3.2.
We are from Nevada.
Thanks for the update @FinesseKing
When was it postmarked?
Nothing in CA today. I’m going to stick a fork in this one and say that we’re clear.
Letter was postmarked January 16th.
