The Official ACT "Red Book"

I'm looking to prepare for the ACT in September and, of course, would like to begin my preparation with the book endorsed by the company itself.

However, I'm experiencing some confusion in purchasing the guide, and I'd like to ask a few questions:

Is it only necessary to buy the newest version of the prep book?

Are the tests included in one version necessary the same as are included in another? (Pretty much answers #1, I know)

How many versions are there? I'm looking at amazon, as I don't have much money to spend, and I only see two released and another coming out in October (of the most recent format).

I believe they carry the same tests, so you’re better off just buying one.

Also, you should probably study from another guide first and then do the practice tests from the red book since there’s only three of them.
