The Official BMC Class of 2012 Thread

Diane - I was in the same position last year... got into Bryn Mawr, but not Scripps even though I lived 45 minutes away (also in LA county - San Fernando Valley). It ended up being a good thing though, since my parents would have been less likely to approve of my decision to attend Bryn Mawr if I'd had the option to go to a "similar" college (to them... to me, there was a big difference, though I liked Scripps, too) closer to home.

If you end up deciding to attend (or are still trying to decide) and have any questions about making the move, let me know!

So far, I have one rejection, two waitlists, four acceptances and one and a half still pending! Bryn Mawr is in the lead!

I seriously love Bryn Mawr and even if I was accepted to the two that waitlisted me (Colgate and Grinnell) I would have gone to BMC anyway. Hurrah for my decisions becoming easier!

I'm super excited... And I found out an aunt of mine that lives in Philly would help me out a bit financially if I end up at Bryn Mawr, so that is really good news too.

I got into Wheaton, F&M, Boston College (honors program), and Colgate. idk what i'm gonna do...i sorta wish this decision were easier, i still have a bunch of schools to hear from.

ahhhhhh people are getting colgate now!?!? for east coast? or are people on the west coast receiving it too? i </3 snail mail.

w/e not going to get in anyways ^_^

im pretty much set on bmc because they have a 3/2 program with caltech. only thing im waiting for is my $$ package. im reallly psyched for bmc xD

I'm going to Bryn Mawr!!!!!

NeuroticSenior-- I live right near F&M. Personally, knowing the school a tiny bit and the surrounding area A LOT, I would pick BMC over F&M any day. If you're intested at all in leaving campus and having real things to do, Lancaster is NOT the place for it, haha.

brillar - yeah, youre probably right. I think my top choices right now are BMC, BC and Colgate. I'm still so nervous about the other schools I'm hearing from soon.

I don't know, I might be biased because I've lived here and I can take classes there... I don't know, FMers seem so different from all the BMC specs. It's a good school, especially for pre-med/theater, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me? I guess it's also relatively crime-free, but F&M is pretty close to inner city Lancaster and no one would want to wander around there at night. And for pre-med majors I think it would be pretty easy to get an internship because there's a lot of hospitals around here but not a ton of really good schools to compete for positions.

Yay Nina!
(we should def room together)

brillar - haha, i dont think im going to go to f&m anyway, i've gotten into some schools i think are better for me. like bmc! (:

Good, now I don't feel guilty about saying I'd go to BMC instead of it, haha.

:( waitlisted at wesleyan university. BMC is looking pretttyyyy good right about now.

Hmmmmm I'm like 80% sure I'm going now. Approximately.

Haha, I was waitlisted at three schools, including Vassar (the only one I'd think about going to instead of BMC). I'm waiting for financial aid from BMC (late documents), so I can't say for sure, but if I get decent financial aid, I'll send in my deposit RIGHT AWAY.

Yayayayay!

Inspiration08- I live in the VA part- Arlington

Chudiane- I got waitlisted by Scripps and was accepted by Smith. And as far as stats are concerned, even though the SATs might be higher at Scripps, BMC is ranked higher so they must have happier students or a higher graduation/ retention rate! So ha! They're also really tiny and aren't so big in diversity (if your coming from outside of California) which might have to do with why people were rejected.

Oh and people posting about debate....I'm an L-D Debater...Oh yeah! I had to suffer through Liberty (outrageously religious) to go to my debate camp!

Pastafarian! I remember you from the ED days! How goes it?

I'm pretty awesome! Swat deferred me ED and then rejected me finally. I actually got rejected by basically everywhere else too, which is cool, so now I'm deciding between a full ride to Rutgers and meager financial aid from BMC. But I love BMC. So I should go there, right?

Yes, you should go to Bryn Mawr because I am and I'm pretty awesome too (jk)!

pastafarian - haha, i pretty much got rejected everywhere else too..but its like w/e at least bmc took me ^_^

emma problemma - haha yea, that would make me feel better. only i live in la county lawl..my theory is that because they have to meet some diversity quota, its harder it get into scripps with my grades. i truly think i only got into bmc because they too had to meet a diversity quota and i was one of the lucky few. im pretty sure a 3.3 barely made the roster ^_^. effing hell hahahahaha even pitzer rejected me lawl

Accepted by Bucknell and Trinity (and I'm not going to either) and rejected from Williams and Tufts. I think I'm going to go sulk now. :/
