I applied to a grand total of wait for it... 22 schools. Not my doing- my dad's. I applied places I didnt even KNOW existed. I think my apps suffered because of it. Worst of all were app fees like 2k+ SAT/ACT... and we are in no way rich... fml, may as well take a nice miniwage job at mcdonalds

I only applied to 10 regular...but I should've applied to more or applied to different schools.

So far, I'm been accepted at CMU, Skidmore, and my state school; waitlisted at JHU; and rejected at GWU (see how that doesn't make sense?).

It's all very worrying...I still have to hear back from Emory and 4 Ivies (including Brown) - not feeling so good about those. I'm thinking instead of having applied to JHU, GWU, and Cornell, I probably should've applied to something like Oberlin, Vassar, and UChicago...better chances and the liberal arts atmosphere suits me better (which is why I like Brown)...fml.

desiking75- wow!! 22 schools. that is a lot. i did 14 and my mom was upset with that. its hard keeping up with them all. i still have to hear back from 6.

i did 8 total. 1 ED + rutgers safety (got in in december) + 6 RD

i applied to 13 total. (got into 9, waitlisted at 3, waiting on Brown gahhh)

i got 3 ivies on the 31st (ahahahahahahahaha that's just AWESOME...double period bio and then rejectionSSSS)...tufts on the 1st i believe. nyu should be tmorrow...but since i didn't get a likely letters, i guess rejection also.
this week's gonna be just amazing. i can't wait! ='D

I feel kinda guilty for having applied to 9 schools, like I'm cheating the system. Especially now that I'm 6 for 7 (which I didn't expect). Anyone else feel that way?

I'm happily pessimistic about my last two schools, though. Maybe I'll feel less guilty after two more rejections. ><

22 schools? Wow. I applied to 6 ... and one's a state university that I later decided I had no interest in going to ...

I'm also waiting on 3 Ivies on the 31st ...

aslkfvpoairhgwig!

i think 9 is average...some ppl apply to over 15 schools which IMO is kinda crazy.i mean the money and the follow-up...i guess they have more of a chance of getting into schools. congrats on 6 for 7 so far!

34 schools!!! OMG, I applied to 12 and I payed $0.00 for applications lmao, all fee waivers. I love my life :)

damn, you must of spent MAD DOUGH for 34 schools..wow. My parents never payed nothing for college stuff, including SAT/ACT testing. Fee waivers saved my parents from going broke lol, if they tried paying...

i had fee waivers for all but one school. but we paid for sat/act scores. it hurt haha. im 8 for 8 right now. i do feel a little guilty for cheating the system but that will all change. i have 5 ivies plus stanford left and well.. you know.
im adopting this happy pessimism thing

I was lucky enough to get into a school ED so I didn't have to mail in the rest of my applications, but I had 17 others ready to go, and it was going to have cost around $800 or so for all the application fees, plus all the costs of having SAT scores sent to all those schools. Glad I avoided that, especially since I wouldn't have been able to get fee waivers to any of those schools.

^^ thats awesome! where are you going??

i just searched his post history and he got into Brown ED. probably forgot he was on the Brown forum... lulz. great job on your 8 for 8!

& thanks for the congrats, yournamehere! :] good luck in the next few days of decision frenzy!

Hey guys, ED deffered here, I recognize some of the fellow ED usernames here haha. God 22 schools? I thought I was crazy for 12.

I applied to 6 and I thought it was too many. :(

People shouldn't apply to 200000 schools just to see if they have a chance. You should apply to the ones that you actually want to go to and enjoy your time there, because then you can leave room for other students applying to other schools that you care less for.

Otherwise, Brown wouldn't be seeing a 25% increase in apps.

when i applied, i loved every single one of the schools. my safeties, i liked a little less, but you have to have safeties. i know ill be happy wherever i go. and im so happy that i have so many places to choose from even if march 31st kills me lol

yeah, exactlyyyy what ontheradio said. : ) i definitely loved & could see myself at all of my schools (and i still do & can).

ab2013: The only thing is this: what if we [the people who've applied to so many schools] can envision ourselves going to all the schools we've applied to? It's just that the ones we did apply to are pretty selective. As a result, we had to apply to a lot of them just because of how selective the school is. I don't have a problem with it. Besides, it's not like we're taking spots from students. Just remember, you only need one spot--not 1500 or however many spots Brown has open. Also, coming from a disadvantaged household, it only made sense for me to apply to schools I knew would help with the tuition; I'm sure I'm not the only one who has done the same. I know applying to 20-34 schools sounds like a lot, but as long as you're organized, it's not so bad. The hard part is choosing where to go.

^I completely agree with you, ontheradio! It just gives us more options and a well-needed safety cushion for Tuesday's decisions :) Good luck!
