The Official December 2012 Sat Subject Test Math Level 2 Thread

@ChillyPenguin

I didn’t use PR to prep for math level 2. I agree that Barron’s is a little bit of an overprep. The questions in the book are significantly harder than questions in other prep books. I used Barron’s because I aimed for an 800 on this test. By using a harder prep book, I felt that I would do better on the actual test.
I heard that PR also preps you well for the test, since the questions in the book are very similar to the actual test questions.

anyone know anywhere online i can get good, reliable practice tests? i got a 750 on the october one D:…i was hoping to get an 800 this time, but as of now im getting like low 700’s max on sparknotes tests O_O…then again, i had to skip some spraknotes problems cause i couldnt read the formatting

does anyone know if there will be determinants of matrices on the test, and how many questions are related to conics?

So the Diagnostic test in Barron’s is harder than the real thing? I got a 500 on it (LOL) and I haven’t seen precalc in three years. Is it possible to score a 750+ come Sunday with a week’s prep?

I don’t understand why math is so hard for me. I’m in AP Calc right now and I took pre-calc last year. I’ve gotten A’s in all of my math classes in High School. I got a 680 on last month’s math 2 and I’m really struggling for 750.

Same here. ^

For me, I’m just not used to the style in which the questions are presented.

Just took the Barron’s Diagnostic and got a 690 thanks to dumb mistakes. I’m cracking down just this week so everything is fresh this Saturday.

It looks like a 690 on the Barron’s is a good start…I’ll take three more practice tests and hopefully get an 800 on those. Seems like that’s a good guarantee.

I got 790 on PR test and I’ve been getting 660-690 on Barron’s… Does anybody know how much can I get on the real test approx.? P.S. Good luck to all who are taking it tomorrow :)!

What does a 560 to 590 on one Barron’s practice test equate to on the real thing?

tomorrow is the test guys, who here used Barron’s, I was getting 680-740 high, what about you guys

I’m taking it tomorrow and I’m using the PR one. I want a 700-750.

Good luck my brothers and sisters!

I’m taking it tomorrow too - I want an 800. Badly. My Barron’s scores never went past 740 and I got an 800 on the only official test I took… I’m nervous lol. Good luck tomorrow, and may we all be pleased with our scores come December 20th!

Its over! I’m happy, it was way easier than Barron’s, I only skipped 2!

It was a lot easier than I thought!

Not too bad.
On the last question: was it the January of every other year or the July of every other year? And why?

I believe it was January because cos(12pi/12) gives you a negative. 445 - (-105) > 445- 0. I don’t know if it the number used was 105 but the essence of the question is there.

I also thought the test was pretty easy but I still didn’t finish every question.I had a fly attacking me the whole test and I cannot express how difficult that made things.

Are we allowed do discuss? Also, 44/50 is an 800 correct? so if I skipped two, I could afford to get three wrong, correct?

i couldnt imagine that discussing is encouraged but everyone does it after each sitting anyways. yea you should be fine. 43-44 is usually the curve and i’m thinking it will be 43 this time. i skipped 6-7 because of time and have missed 1 so far. i wanted a 800 so badly but realistically im looking at 770 or so.

easy enough. skipped four and answered the rest.

The last three were pretty hard though for me. I also skipped the one on interquartile range.

The fourth to the last question I was also a little unsure about. It was something about x-y is between -1 and 0, what is x+y… what did you guys get for that one?

So yea, it was pretty easy but that just means harsher curve :(
