The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

@Cayton‌ Honestly thought you were a moderator for these forums because of your persistence and valuable information

@Cayton woah you better watch out dude. Apparently you can’t discuss moderators on this website XD what a joke

Haha wow, I’m neurotically going over my chances in my mind, even though I know it doesn’t matter and I’ll know for sure at 5, and realizing exactly how borderline I am.

If you add up every single credit I’ve taken from the four colleges I’ve attended, I have 84; I’m taking 14 credits at my CC this semester, and not sure if that counts to put me over the 86.5 credit max for transfers. However, most of my credits my freshman year were 2-credit quarter classes, which don’t count because only 3-credit semester classes are transferrable. The one class I took that year over that was a 3 quarter long, 6 unit fundamentals of filmmaking class which I’m not sure is UC transferrable (just checked the UCLA film catalog and I can’t see anything comparable; this was a jack-of-all-trades film class where you learned producing, screenwriting, directing, cinematography, etc.) So if that does transfer, I have 72 total transferable credits, and my GPA is 3.13.

The next year I transferred to a Big 10 school and did pretty badly. Since then my GPA in CC has been >3.7. I did just realize I took one class at that school that I retook in CC-- a post-romantic english lit class that I got a C in at the Big 10 but an A in at the CC–and if the counselor counts that as “retaking,” my GPA goes up to exactly the 3.2 minimum. But I’m now reading you can only repeat a course with C- or lower. If I just go with the assumption that every class I took at that big 10 was transferable, my GPA doesn’t meet the minimum.

Anyway, this is all confusing, and I’m probably not eligible to transfer. It all depends on exactly which classes they deem transferable, how many credits I end up having, how that factors into my GPA and whether I end up meeting the 3.2 minimum. But there are so many factors and variables at play here that it’s almost impossible to predict what will happen. Even if I met the 3.2 minimum I’m borderline, despite the fact that year at the Big 10 was back in 2009-10. My essays are good, I’m a returning college student with a high upward grade trend and I’ve been working a pretty respectable and interesting full-time job that applies to my major for four years now. I’m applying as an American Lit major. I guess the point is to stay in school and avoid the confusion!

@chaoscuber‌

Nope! Just another anxious applicant who’s got lots of time to spare!

Being a moderator? Ain’t nobody got time for that. :D

@uclammg‌
Isn’t it? As far as I know, none of the colleges within the district offer it. Thanks for the recommendation! Good luck to you as well!

Beware of the telescreen.

@RamonaFalls‌

Good luck, man.

EDIT: I guess I can’t criticize certain people sometimes. lol

@TheUnderdog1 Yeah, this is awkward… sorry if that last thread got out of hand. I was the one talking about the people who monitor the threads, I guess they don’t like criticism.

@repo11‌ it is what it is.

I have nothing to say, but in case any totally non existent, 100% imagined higher power is listening…I love big brother?

@TheUnderdog1‌

Ugh, telescreens…1984 was a good book and a scary one too.

BigBrotherAintGoneStopUs

Lmao. We can pass the next few hours by starting a cyber revolution. Lmao.

I just wanna smoke a joint, play street fighter and cry.

Luckily I went to bed at 5AM, and woke up to a girl rubbing my hair and back fell asleep again so I only have 4 ish hours to wait.

I just called UCLA admissions. They will begin releasing transfer decisions after 5pm tonight. You will receive an email to check the decision site. Not all decisions will be released, but most will. Also, not hearing from them today does not mean you weren’t admitted. It just means they didn’t get around to updating your decision yet! Good luck everyone, just a few more hours!!!

@GreatestThe‌

Nice!

Play Street Fighter faded. That game takes on new meaning when you play it in that state of mind.

@GreatestThe‌ LOL my man! But seriously, I couldn’t sleep last night, so I used my restlessness to finish up a few lab reports and study frivolously for a test for a class thats literally 6-7 hours (it’s a one day a week EE lecture with Lab combined… awful). So I have something to keep me busy and I wish you all good ******* luck. I can’t wait to come back home to +500 new comments/replies on this thread

Also, you might want to check the decision site regularly on your own, rather than waiting for the email. With all the other UCs I’ve applied to, I’ve found my decision out by logging into the portal anywhere from 1-7 prior to them sending me an email.

1-7 DAYS prior, I meant to say :-)

I’m gonna be pissed and cry if my decision doesn’t come out today!!!

@XOambermichelle‌

It’s a good thing we know when to expect them to be released: 5:00 PM.
