The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

It’s a long shot, but in all honesty I can’t really go to UCLA anyway so I applied for simply bragging rights if I did get in. Lol.

3.75.
Political Science Major.
Participate in programs with formerly incarcerated youth, advocate juvenile justice reform, and I am a formerly incarcerated youth myself.
We shall see I guess.

I’ll bite, lol.

GPA: 4.0
Global Studies Major (According to assist.org this is a highly competitive major, admit rate was about 25% last year for transfers according to UCLA statistics)
EC’s: Studied Abroad in France for 1 month over the summer of 2013, I worked about 30 hours a week at McDonald’s starting in August of 2013, quit that job after landing an internship in Governor Jerry Brown’s office which I am currently almost done with. I am also in my college jazz band but I don’t know if that counts as extracurricular, though we do frequently perform outside of school.
I am also bilingual (English/French) and am nearly fluent in Spanish thanks to several classes I took in high school and am currently taking at my community college.

UCLA is my #1 school right now, but I also TAG’ed with UCSD and I already received an admission notification for UCSB. I did receive a regents invitation for UCLA so I think that is a good sign, lol.

Dang stiff comeptition :l
anyways,
GPA: ~3.7-3.8 not sure exactly
Major: Biochemistry
EC: Nothing really, just working ~20-25 hours a week (unrelated to major), and tutoring

My #1 is Berkeley, even though i feel its a long shot just cause its so competitive. UCLA is def my #2 though but i am missing a pre-req (maybe 2? the articulated courses keep changing). i wouldnt be able to take it anyways because of the unit limit for me :l

@Bookham

If it makes you feel better, you may be competing with us, but you’re competing more with those who’re applying to the same major as you.

GPA: 4.0

Spanish major

5+ years work experience

No other EC’s except 2 years of volunteer work with the DSPS program at my college.

Good luck to everyone!

I think you only really have to compete with other people applying for the same major, not really with everyone else.

Anthro major
3.88
5+ years of work experience

Good luck everyone!!

Does anyone know if they let people know the admissions decisions date last year? Or did they just release them on a random Friday at the end of April…?

Judging from last year’s threads, people knew well in advance that the release date for for admissions was April 19th. However, if I recall correctly, it was changed to April 26th a few days before April 19th.

Accepted to UCSD but UCLA is my main choice, Cal #2 just cause I’m already in LA.

GPA: 3.96
Major: Pre-Political Science
EC: Worked experience over 2 years, volunteer experience and community activities
Units: 63, IGETC to be completed this semester

I really don’t know what to expect since I’ve seen people with 4.0’s be rejected. I felt like my PS was pretty strong though.

Accepted: UCSD (Neuroscience), and Tagged UCD (Physiology and Neurosciences).
GPA: 3.82 after update, 3.85 before update.
Major: Neuroscience
EC: The ones that mean the most to me: Student Panelist (5 yrs) for first generation Hispanic students. Supplemental Instructor Leader for general chemistry, volunteer tutor for organic chemistry. Intern for the STEM Institute where we helped high school students get involved in the STEM disciplines. Math tutor during summer. Member of the Leadership Education for Aspiring Physicians (LEAP) at Stanford School of Medicine where I’m working on a project that will benefit the Hispanic population and provide information about the consequences of obesity. Co-author of a paper published in the 2014 American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Journal, presented research results at the high school and community college level through the STAr program at Stanford University along with other Stanford grad students. etc etc…
UCLA is a great school so it would be nice to get in :slight_smile: my first choice is still Berkeley, but we’ll see what happens at the end of this month haha.

@vahemanoukian

With a GPA like that, you’ll only be rejected if you haven’t completed your pre-req classes. Have you?

@zalrons , I have very similar stats. Anthro BA. 3.9 UC GPA and about 7 years of work. (Im a nontrad) UCLA is my number 1 I’m holding out for, already got decision from UCSD and got a nice grant package so I would need something good from UCLA to turn that down.

Will someone chance me?
Major: Psychology BA
Pre-Req’s: 4/5, Missing Chemistry because I could not get into the course :frowning:
IGETC: Complete by Spring 2014
Overall GPA: 3.73
Major GPA: 4.0
EC: Not very much in app, just work experience since I was 16.

Hooks: First generation college student, Mexican/Hungarian descent, on track to transfer within two years.
Accepted: UCSC
Pending: UCLA, UCSB
Rejected: None yet

Here’s the deal: My transcript shows all A’s except for Ceramics, Oceanography and College Algebra (Got B’s in those courses). This is very frustrating because I was careless during that time and I know I could have gotten A’s if I tried. As of now, I have more EC’s including Dean’s List, Phi Theta Kappa, current work experience with autistic children (major-related), and I am a T.A. for my Neuroscience class which involves double-lab assistance. I feel like my chances would be so much higher if I waited to apply again for next year but nonetheless, am I considered a competitive applicant?

@UCpsychtransfer
I wouldn’t say you are competitive but who knows what will happen. Pre-Req completion is pretty important for Psychology at UCLA, as it is impacted. Not only that, but the avg admitted GPA for the major is 3.82

Every day I get more upset when I check and see it still says “late April”.

When people say that their pre-reqs are complete, does that mean the minimum requirements needed to even be considered for admission or does that mean all of the lower-division classes listed on assist.org?

@‌conheo

The lower division classes required for the major.

@RamonaFalls‌
Ugh, same here.

@Cayton‌ I’ve missed one pre-req class only cause UCLA was the only one that needed it and it wasn’t my top choice when applying. I’m more into Cal as a school, but I’ll take LA if they were to overlook that.

Can anyone get a 9-digit UCLA ID as an applicant?
