The Official Fantasy Football Advice Thread

I don't know if one of these exists but I'm sure there would be some interested people here.

I'll start off, I have the #6 pick in a 14 team PPR league that starts 2 QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE, and 2 flex. Assuming the first 5 off are Arian, AP, CJ, Jamaal, and Ray Rice, I'm either going with Vick, Rodgers, McCoy, or Andre.

Help?

Go Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson. You can always get a good QB.

I Nvr take Qbs high unless they are elite.

Pick up Ochocinco later too. I think he’ll put out some good numbers.

Get the best running back available. Wide receivers are always abundant and tough to predict. Players that should have a great year end up getting hurt or playing horribly, whereas some scrub will put up top 25-numbers. Running backs, good ones at least, are much harder to come by. It’s good to have a consistent source of around 20 points a game that you can count on from a running back. Besides, QB is a pretty deep position. As long as you get someone around Rivers talent level, you will be fine. Besides, I bet vick will be off the board in the top 5 picks, seems he always is in my ESPN leagues.

As a reigning champion of my fantasy league (just had to throw it in there), I would say go for a RB. Rodgers was great and all but Kyle Orton put up pretty similar numbers as far as fantasy is concerned. Sure, Rodgers was better but not by that much. Matt Schaub can also get the QB points, so you really shouldn’t go there first. I would have to say LeSean McCoy would be the best bet. He will put up good numbers and is pretty consistent. Another option is Rashard Mendenhall who consistently put up 16-18 points a week for me. He rarely deviated from that range which was very nice.

As far as kickers go, Seabass FTW!!! He actually got 20 points in a game last year for me!!! But seriously, I feel that the most valuable kickers are the ones on the teams with completely average offenses that will drive the ball into FG range but rarely put it into the endzone. (See: Oakland last year)

Watch the free agents very carefully the first few weeks. There is going to be one guy who will be under the radar and sets the world ablaze (for example Brandon Lloyd).

In all honesty though, it’s really who is hot come playoff time. I was middle-of-the-pack through most of the season because I did not draft that well, and I caught fire come playoff time.
