Yet again, another draft making me question why I am still a lions fan :( HOW CAN YOU NOT PICK MATT LEINART!?!?!?! ARE YOU RETARDED MATT MILLEN?! INSTEAD YOU PICK A GUY WHO HAS SUFFERED 5 CONCUSSIONS! jesus christ!

I agree, that was probably one of the worst picks on the entire first day of the draft.

i actually know ernie's little bro. sims is a helluva a player but i dunno if hes number nine material. besides, you got josh mccown to cheer you up!

True, but McCown has a bum knee.

I'm actually pretty pumped that they got Calhoun in the third round. I thought Calhoun would go early-to-mid 2nd. He reminds me a bit of early Barry, I'm sure he'll do some damage as a lion.

personally i was surprised cutler fell that deep...

im kinda happy my jets went with brick for the 4th pick and mangold for the 29th... our o-line has sucked for years...

maybe this year pennington can go a game without tearing his rotator cuff again...

Lions just suck at life.

Go Giants.

I thought the Jets made some really good picks, rebuild the O-line and draft Clemens.

I was surprised that LenDale feel so low.

Finally, my Saints have a shot at becoming a good team. Smart pick they made when they drafted Reggie Bush.

I'm also glad that 5 guys were drafted from the UT team. It probably would have been more if we wouldn't have had such a bad season last year.

I felt like that the Texans should have traded that pick for more picks in the later rounds and possibilty better chances in rebuilding their team.

Drew00 - at least he didn't pick Santonio Holmes! Hehe, that would have been nothing short of comically awful if he picked another wide receiver. I like Calhoun a lot, but I feel like he's too similar to Kevin Jones. He'd be a much better fit at a place with a bruising back that needs a change-of-pace guy

klf - The Saints could have gotten a Eli Manning-esque deal if they had traded that pick (Eli Manning was not worth Philip Rivers and Shawne Merriman and Nate Kaeding). Of the 22 starting positions on offense and defense, I'd say the Saints had about 21 needs more pressing than running back.

Scom - Cutler fell that low because he hasn't been in a lot of close games. Tons of guys have had great workouts and combines (I'm looking at you Mike Mamula!) and amounted to nothing in the NFL. And at no other position is mojo as important as it is at QB.

And the Pats draft was really good... as long as they have something in the works with Ty Law, which seems to be the rumor around here. If they can't get a legit #1 defensive back, they'll give up like 500 points this season.

i'm just a little disappointed that Nick Hartigan didn't get drafted in the 7th round.

So am I, I thought he'd be an excellent fullback for an Arizona or a Denver.

Not one white running back or even fullback was drafted. Hartigan will sign with someone though.

you really think he's gonna get signed? I mean I never really expected him to play pro, I just hoped he would get a shot.

i still can't believe reggie bush was second round pick. that's absurd!!

Seriously, when I heard that Super Mario was going first I was like:

Bush will end up being a poor man's Tiki Barber or a glorified Tim Dwight. He is not going to be Gale Sayers or Marshall Faulk like many people are proclaiming. AJ Hawk will be the best pick in the top ten out of this draft. Think Ray Lewis, but faster and a better tackler.

joev, I agree completely with you on Reggie Bush. This site is heavily west coast but here's the truth: Pac 10 defense is terrible. Every Reggie Bush highlight involves one man at the point of attack. It seems like there's never anybody within another five yards even. Tacklers at the next level are going to be competent and hit a lot harder, too.

AJ Hawk's going to be a better player but I think calling him a better tackler than Ray Lewis is a stretch. I think Urlacher's a better comparison. I also think that Mario's combination of size, speed, strength, and explosiveness is extremely rare, and he will be the best player.

What draft were you watching? :p

Doubt that - D'Brickashaw Ferguson. I'm going to GUARANTEE - barring injuries - that he is a 10-time Pro Bowler. Ferguson was the best football player in this draft.
