@skieurope I see…
I have no clue what the consensus on Choate’s dorms is…
@ffsophiar Random comment, but I love Calvin and Hobbes. My kiddo and I used to enjoy reading it together when my kiddo was young, and I every time I see your profile pic, I smile.
ive never heard of it ahaha
@CavsFan2003 From the people I know was Choate, it seems that their least favorite thing is the dorms. I’ve heard they have a larger number of doubles in comparison to Deerfield, SPS, or Andover. Probably due to them having a semi-larger student body than deerfield and SPS and relatively similar number of dorms/buildings in general.
@sparkatzz Loomis didn’t really send me that much swag (they pretty much sent an acceptance package and a plastic cup in the mail a couple days after). Hill sent a huge packet with a bunch of swag (m&m’s, posters, stickers, etc.) I would say the least swag came from peddie which literally sent a book. You could call to ask if the swag is coming, but if you are revisiting anyway you will probably get a lot of stuff during the visits.
The youth today. What are they teaching these kids in school? =))
^I agree @skieurope !!! We love Calvin and Hobbes!! My kids quote it all of the time.
I remember I had a huge Calvin and Hobbes book… cherished it like my child lol
Also it’s a shame Choate dorms aren’t great, but oh well!
@CC4life Yeah hopefully there’s more swag at revisits. I already declined Hill’s offer so I guess I’m not getting any swag from them haha.
I realized this is kind of late, but if I’m revisiting a school that I didn’t visit earlier (interviewed through Skype), should I get a campus tour first before going to revisit to get a sense of the campus? I was thinking that revisits are mostly going to classes and panels so wouldn’t there be much chance to actually see everything (especially dorms)? Also, I pretty much forgot the previous tours that I actually went to.
I’m going to my Exeter revisit tomorrow guys!
What should I not do during a revisit?
@sparkatzz SMS will pair you up with a student and you will see the majority of campus with your class visits. Dorm tours happen at the end of the day. If there is something you’d still like to see at the end of the day, there will be a large number of volunteers to choose from who can take you to the “sights unseen”. I believe the day ended around 3 pm, so you’ll have plenty of time afterward to look around, as well.
Not singling out anyone but, I’m getting really irritated about the swag convo. Don’t you realize these are just waste and exact opposite of what you have been trying to portray yourself during the admission process? Please, if you like swag, look elsewhere, it’s called “dollar store”.
isn’t there a yearly forum where this years applicants go to post their tips for next years’ applicants?
@buuzn03 Thank you! I can’t wait till next week!
@YoungThriver just remember to have fun and be yourself. Try to see if you would want to spend the next 4 years in this place with these people. People being: students, teachers, staff and faculty. That’s what fit is all about. (And be aware it is Ivy Day) so the campus might have an anxious vibe, particularly if you interact with seniors.
@GGNewton Is talking or asking about swag of any importance at all? no. No, it most definitely is not. However, all the applicants (whether they were accepted or not) have gone through a strenuous and time consuming application process. Therefore, I don’t see any reason why asking or commenting on swag makes an applicant “portray themselves differently” than they did during the app process. After a grueling application process I don’t see anything wrong with accepted students being excited as they wait for school swag to arrive. Additionally, I don’t see anything wrong with people asking whether or not a school sends swag or if/when it will arrive. Again, is it helpful or meaningful? Definitely not. But I don’t see why any question (whether it be pointless or meaningful) should irritate you on this thread. If you don’t like the swag convo…simply don’t respond to it. We are, by nature, materialistic, and school swag feeds that materialism (whether it irritates you or not). Of course, this is all just my opinion.
@GGNewton Please show me the Dollar Store that has cool t-shirts. I’m serious, that’s about my budget, solid $9 in my bank account.
Anyway, I’m biased because I’ve been like the major gear-wanter, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting a t-shirt, and it definitely doesn’t change the picture I portrayed (which I didn’t do, I was just real throughout the process).
@vegas1 Thank you!
Last comment on swag @GGNewton… I promise… Does Exeter send swag or give it out at revisit?
@ImWaisian I believe that they do. I’ll confirm tomorrow if you’d like since I’ll be at Exeter.
I’ll need gear for Exeter/ Andover day and dress like an Exonian day over at Andover.
