*The OFFICIAL MARCH 15 MAKEUP SAT THREAD*

i think the worthless projects one was squander/profligacy

Yup squander...profligacy.

Any more opinions on the curious/frustrated verbal problem?

I can see why people would pick frustrated. He wished he could have been the first to discover new lands and pioneer the space mission, yet the main point was that he yearned to explore at an early age. He was jealous and envious of those who had the chance to explore because he thought that all the unfathomable had already been explored.

The real question is...did the author choose to state his malassumption that the known world had been conquered to highlight his mental dilemma or to outline his desire to break bounderies and explore the unknown.

That was a horrible question. It's really a pity that the Question & Answer service is not offered for makeup days. I would contest the problem if it went either way.

yea it could have been both curious and frustrated.... the squander one i didnt know- i said expend and some word like afflicacy?

I also put squander..profligacy and deleterious .. pernicious. I had an experimental critical reading section so I am not sure about a few of the SCs. Did anyone put VERTIGINOUS (the mountain was steep), TRIUMVIRATE, SINECURE and BELEAGUERED?

spiral I got all of those.

There was only one SC I was sorta flip/floppy on. Did anyone get impasse...insurmountable?

just out of curiosity and amazement. heh, how did you guys know the meanings to those words? did you guys just study words?

Eliminate choices that you do know the meanings of.

Hey guys,

Remember for the problem in the math that had a 5 by 5 grid and u had to find the number of the shaded square (bottom right). To find it you had to add the top square with the left square-- or something like that. I don't remember my answer exactly, but I remember it being three digits. Anyone else remember?

that one was annoying until you actually knew what they were trying to ask. haha, anywho. i'm not sure what i got. i think i had like 132 or 135 maybe?

Few more questions I just thought of:

Grammar:
The Andy collection one (the last one on the 10 minute section)

I narrowed it down to A and E, the only ones that could potentially make some sense

Math:

The c in terms of a one. Did anyone get B. -4a+19?

The one with the circle inscribed in the square; I don't remember exactly what I put down, but if any of you remember...

still stumped on the andy collection one too. i dont remember number 1 at all, i wonder if i had that question. 2, do you mean the square inscribed in the circle that was divided into four triangles? it was 8pi i think.

anyone remember the grid in that asked for constant k. was it 0?

Confirmed Sentence Completions

Lets try to make a list of confirmed Sentence Completions. Here is a list of what I think are confirmed answers:

IMPASSE .. INSURMOUNTABLE

SQUANDER .. PROFLIGACY (girl SQUANDERED her time with a myriad of projects impressing everyone with her PROFLIGACY)

FECUND

PERNICIOUS .. DELETERIOUS

VERTIGINOUS (steep slope so no surprise person was VERITINOUS)

TRIUMVIRATE (three people formed a TRIUMVIRATE)

COMMANDING ... COMPASSIONATE (authoritative leader wanted to be both COMMANDING AND COMPASSIONATE)

BELEAGUERED

EXAGGERATED .. LIBELOUS (newspaper article was so EXAGGERATED that it came close to being LIBELOUS)

SINECURE (person was without care because his job was a SINECURE)

COMMENTS??? ADDITIONS!!!!

Arch, thanks for the confirmation. Yes, IMPASSE .. INSURMOUNTABLE was definitely an answer. Can anyone remember the question?

I agree with all of spiraljettys answers!!
lets try to compile some difficult writing questions/math grid-ins.

I had a terribly small number of no errors- only one i remember was something about all the dolls.

Vivisaurus - I was just reading the March 15th thread you started. Wish we could combine posts on both threads. Anyway I did put theatrical flair and I think I put conventional .. conform. Can anyone confirm?

Good idea - lets give it a try.

I'm trying to remember the Sentence Completions as best I can. Here are (I think) three more:

FLEETING

DERISIVE

SOLITARY

Not 100 percent sure of these. Can anyone confirm?

I know I got all the sentence completions correct, and I recall all of those.

Anyone remember the context of derisive? That one seems to slip my mind...

haha, i guess i'll start posting on this one. i dont really care, i just want to disucss. as spiraljetty prolly read, i agree with your post above about the theatrical flair and conventional/conform. nice job on the sentence completions, i barely figured any of em out.

still wondering about the math grid in w/ constant k? other grid in questions could be the averages/group one. i randomly guessed on it and put my lucky number, 7. and what do you know, that was the answer i heard. did anyone get .667 (i think 2/3) for one of them? cant remember anymore questions.

some difficult writing: hrmm. anyone remember the sentence completion where the movie was praised for its sound effects. i thought they used an incorrect idiom but i think i'm wrong. anyone remember the answer to the last question of the rewriting sentences?

anyone remember any answers from the CR lawyers pasasge?

yes, i got .667 as well

Can't remember the context for DERISIVE either. Did you have IMPLAUSIBLE? Something like it seemed IMPLAUSIBLE that a beginner could create a work that was so accomplished. Does that sound right?
