I got a 2190 on the October SAT and got
670 CR
800 Math
720 Writing
So a word of encouragement for those of you who want to take it again next month. It’s possible to raise your score a lot in one month. The first SAT I took was a 1730.

I feel so glum when i look at everyone elses scores…all i got was a 1810, and i wanted to apply to HYPSM schools.

guys i raised my score from 1990 (October) to 2220(November) and I can’t be happier!! XDDD
anyway does anyone get 12/12 in the essay? i will take the final SAT in December and I really want to raise from 10 to 12. i followed all the tips and strategies written on college confidential but somehow thing doesn’t work. :frowning: Guys please help me out! Thanks a lot ^^

Ahhh, thanks for that @kinaralah‌ !
I felt really frustrated seeing my essay score though… Over 2 years ago I took an SAT and got 6 on the essay, and it was a really crappy essay, makes me cringe everytime I see it xD
This time I felt like I really put a lot of effort into it, some solid, thorough examples… Got a 7.
SAT Essay Readers. You’ve got a tough job, but… Hahahah, f*ck you.
I just felt in general, despite being an easier test than most I’ve taken, it was cruelly graded. I think someone who I just ran over on a street would’ve been a tad more lenient than the curve was. Alas…

@agoodfloridian as for me i got 1800 with 9 essay(was hoping for 10) i wanted 1900 badly but not too diisapointed because in oct i got 1740(oct sat killed everybody) and about the essay i got 8 in oct using real literature examples and this time i just made a slight modification that was I wrote in cursive and made up all the examples even the author and the book and it gave me a 9. and do you think i can get into penn state with a 1800. penn state is like ny first choice

Penn State? If you have a considerably good GPA to back up that score, then yes, I do believe you can get in. Admittedly, I’m not too well-informed of Penn State’s applicant pool, it was a school that I was interested a while ago, until I saw its OOS fee. Yeaaah, no thanks.
The wait for UF’s admission decision has just become a bit more nerve-wracking than I’d intended it to be. Hopefully a 120 on the TOEFL and a touching application can turn the odds in my favor. In any case, I’m not unsatisfied with my score, I’ve just gotten a sort of… Wake up call, with a bleak message, “You thought it’d be easy, didn’t you?”

@agoodfloridarian toefl score is just a requirement it wont help you i got 100.sat reading always mess up my scores 520 :frowning: and will the fact that i can pay the full fee help me in admission?? and i heard nov 14 us sat -1 in math was 750 thats just brutal i feel sorry for them

Will it help?
How about, “Hell yeah it will”. I mean, when an international student is full-pay, they look at you with a star in their eyes, and a tear of joy. Consider that +3 points of leverage. With a decent GPA, you’re in, I wouldn’t stress out too much over it.

Now that I think about it… UF has virtually NO scholarships for international students… Since I`m also paying… “Full fee”, then one would assume that they also will look at me smiling from ear-to-ear. Woop!

@agoodfloeidian the only thing im scared about the universities are all of them are in midwest and its damn cold therr and i live in chennai india where the seasons of the year are hot, hotter and even hotter.i hope i can survive it and even though my dad can afford to pay for all the colleges i chose college which tution and fees are less than 30k a year beacuse can save money and are you in-state for uf

@AGoodFloridian‌ oh god the curve was so difficult this year and the essay was graded so harshly. I was fully expecting an 11 but instead got a 9. I thought I’d provided some really solid examples and had finished with 5 minutes to spare, so I got the chance to check my work and change things. But guess it still wasn’t good enough. Combined with 2-3 WR mistakes (97% percentile), it was a 730 :/

1950…UGHHHHHH!! but oh well, this was my first try…

I got a 2240. Should i retake?

R: 730
M: 720
W:790

I think I did really well on math and Im pretty sure I got one wrong with one omit. I HATE THIS MATH CURVE!!!
WHAT IS THIS MATH CURVE!!

Would this work for Columbia or university of Chicago

@Pandabear101 A friend of mine who got into UChicago last year scored 2310. Btw could you share me some tips on how to write an essay of 12? I got 770 with an essay of 10 and really want to improve my score on SAT December.

@tracybui You can get an 800 on Writing with a 10 essay, and sometimes even 9 essay.

Total: 2240
CR: 800
M: 780
W: 660 (buuuuuuh)

First try and just barely missed my goal of 2250, but the one bombed section probably looks worse than if I had 750 across the board…

I got 2250… Does this show low chance for HYP? hahaha

“I got a 2240. Should i retake?”
“a 2240. i retake”
“2240.retake”

stares at @Pandabear101‌ for a very… long time.
staaaaaares

710 CR
800 Math
760 Writing (11 essay)
This was my first SAT and I got a 2270. Is this good enough for ivies, or should I retake it to get 800 on writing?

@tracybui‌ I got an essay of 10. I wrote 3 examples and filled up the whole two pages. I got a 77 on the writing section though so that is what I think brought me up.

@apandsatsandapps‌ Noooo
