Screw this. I hate conics.
Hate the fact that I want a high score so badly.

I’ve just gone 1-1/2 weeks without taking a practice test :o. I’ve been too busy freaking out about precalc homework. Anyways, I’ve been scoring in the Barron’s 800 range, but I still have 3 Barron’s tests left, plus a CB test. Should I just take them anyways, or would it be pointless???

Don’t worry about it. You will just make me feel more guilty about not prepping. :(

Elf, if you have time, take the Barron’s tests, but don’t jeopardize your grade for it. They can give you some extra, useful info. Sounds like you’re doing really well though :]

Hey guys also taking this test! Im in BC Calc right now, but like I am so confused! If im possibly thinking of taking the Math Level 1 test also (as in after I take the math level 2, I feel as though I didn’t do to hot). Is studying Math Level 1 going to be helpful at all for level 2. Im also studying brons Level 2 book! Thanks!

Uhhhhh, I just took a Barron’s practice test and got a . . . 700. And the mistakes I made were mostly careless errors, like switching a sign or forgetting to take the ln of both sides. Looks like I actually need to study next week. . . . Or maybe I’m just overreacting. I don’t know.

I’ve used both McGraw-Hill and Barrons. On Barrons I got somewhere between 640 and 660. On McGraw-Hill I got somewhere between 740 and 760. I’m currently wondering if McGraw-Hill is too easy.

^ I hear that the Barrons tests are much harder than the actual test so whatever ur score, just add 100 points. So with that McGraw might have more realistic questions.

But now im flipping out cuz i took a test in Kaplan and got a 570!! So im gonna pull an all-nighter tonight and take a test in the Barrons book and see how I do.

This is my first SAT and I am soo worried about finishing on time and actually getting 750 and above… Could anyone give me any tips about the actual level of the test? I tried every book Barrons, Mcgrawhill,… etc… Barrons is way to hard… I don’t want to ruin this! HELP:(

yjkim, what math are you taking right now? And what grade are you in?

Just got a 720 on a barrons test. I have one test left to take the day before I take the SAT next week, and hopefully I’ll be closer to 750 by then.

I AM FREAKING OUT ABOUT THIS TEST. Any last minute study tips you guys are using in regards to Barrons? I’m trying to go through the whole book again (went through the whole thing over the summer), but Idk what else I should do. I’m in ap calc ab right now, so I think I’ve covered the necessary pre-calc stuff that might be needed but idk.

Also, how is the curve for Math 2?

Yeah, I’m also curious about the Math II curve. How big is it?

I made an error when I commented earlier. I haven’t actually used Barron’s.

From my memory, these are roughly my scores.
Blue Book (the one with all SAT IIs) #1: 660
McGraw-Hill #2: 660
McGraw-Hill #3: 690
Princeton Review #1: 800

I’ve been going through the Barron’s review section for a week now, and I just took the first practice test and scored a 720, but I went like 10mins over the time limit. Do you think I’ll be able to get my time down in a week, or should I not even be concerned since the real test is easier (so it should take less time)?

The curve for math II is around 6-7 wrong before you can’t get an 800 anymore. Usually a raw of 43. If you’re unlucky, 44, and if you’re extremely lucky, 42.

cac815, you should try to finish the test in an hour. 10 minutes is quite a bit of time to solve problems.

Aquawater98, what would you recommend doing in the last week before the test, i.e. this week?

Did a BB practice: 45 raw (-4), 800

I’m hoping this is a realistic portrayal… because I need to focus on biology, man!

Just graded my Barron’s test #5 and found it to be extremely ridiculous/annoying.

Question 33 asks you to find the sum of the area of 2 triangles in a graph, but then in the answers explains how you would find the sum of three rectangles in the graph. The answer key goes along with this explanation, so there’s no change you could get that right.

Question 40 asks you to find the “length of the latus rectum of the hyperbola”… Am I supposed to know what that is? Apparently it’s (2b^2)/a. Seems pretty random to me.

Question 35 asks you to find the lattice points that lie between the area of a circle and a sideways parabola. It at least explains what lattice points are, but then goes into some extremely complicated way to figure it out with a calculator.

Question 50 asks for sin^-1(cos(100)). That’s easy enough to do on a calculator and get -10 degrees. When you see that that’s not any of the answers though it gets a big confusing. I tried changing it to radians and got -.17, which is what they did in the answer key as well. The right answer is actually -.2. I realize this one seems a little less ridiculous, but after making me change it to radians without actually explaining that as part of the question is a little annoying.

I really hope the last Barron’s test is better, and that the SAT II on saturday doesn’t have any ridiculous terminology.

I’m pretty sure they repeat a lot of questions, so maybe it’s a good idea to read through old threads from after the SAT II? I read through one for when I took bio, and got lucky, which helped me get some more questions right.

^ I’m studying for math ii right now, do you think Barrons is still a reliable source based on what you said? I’m currently using PR but would like to study more for November
