May 2010 - Math Level 2

One more week before the test. I'm really scared, because I make all these silly mistakes when taking practice tests.

I've taken about 3 tests from Barron's, but I've only scored from 700-720. I skip about 9 or 10 questions, and get about 4 or 5 questions wrong. Considering how the Math 2 test has a lenient curve, I think I'm screwed :(

Anyone offer last minute suggestions?

Wrap a hot towel around your head. Baron’s is notorious for having stupid difficult practice tests. I would take a few more practice tests, take Friday off, and then go make an 800 on Saturday.

It is common knowledge that barron’s is disproportionately hard. A 680 on a Barron’s test is equivalent to a 800 on the real thing. I got consistent low 700s high 600s on barrons practice tests but got a 800/790(2 stupid misbubbles) on the official Math Level 2 Subject Test Study Guide from Collegeboard.

The proctor doesn’t care what you do with a graphing calculator, right? I’m going to write as many formulas that I don’t know for the test in my calculator lol (just in case)
Also, if you have barron’s, be sure to write those programs for graphing calculators. They are VERY useful, especially the quadratic formula program.

i realy really have a trouble with probability. OMGGG!!!

I am also taking it, along with us history and bio…the month of may for juniors sucks.

Havn’t started preparing for this yet. I’ll probably just take two practice tests Friday night

Don’t worry. I took Barron’s Math II, went over the review material quickly, and got like a 740 on the 2 practice ones I did, and I ended up with an 800 on both Math I and II, and I’m confident that I beat the curve on Math II, also. The questions they throw you on the actual exam are of the same type of Barron’s (although I didn’t see any conic sections… don’t quote me on this), but a lot easier.

Also, remember that if you add the same amount to every item in a list, the standard deviation doesn’t change ;-), they apparently have one related to that one every one.

Anyone get the practice book from collegeboard for Math II? Is it good?

I have a similar intention.

hey so i have a question for you guys taking the math level 2 soon, did you only use barrons’ to prepare?

Happily, I will not be taking it soon, but I exclusively used SparkNotes’ review tutorials posted on the website. I earned a 780 on my first attempt (May 2009), 800 on the second (January 2010).

I intend to use Barrons’ practice tests.

Does anyone want to share any last minute advices?
And by the way, when do the scores for May SAT II come out? the 20th or 27th?

^Dude, silverturtle, you are everywhere on CC, PSAT, SAT, Math 2

^ Yeah, I post on quite a few forums, though my participation in the SAT Preparation forum has waned since I achieved a satisfactory score.

bumpp…we’ll use this thread to discuss the test on saturday when the embargo has been lifted

My Pre-Calculus skills are a bit rusty haha. I’ve heard the actual test is easier than the Barron’s practice tests, anyone care to validate?

Yes, Barron’s is harder.

I’m in the same boat.

im really beyond set on calc ab for the ap like almost 100 points on every practice is that sufficient to get an 800 for the math 2 (i know theres no calc on the math 2 but precalc topics are covered in calculus so i figured maybe id be set)

what do you guys think? i have the sparknotes review book but i really need to study for us history way more lol
