@hayyaan
Don’t worry about the deadline. Just send your commonapp. Since they are having holidays, they are considering all the applications sent till January 3rd! :D

The earliest I can send out my documents/school reports etc. is the 10th of January!

^Better talk to the AdComs on the third of Jan and send the documents if they agree(which they usually do!)

^^And one more thing, if you are worried about sending the teacher’s part/counselor’s part, the deadline does not imply to them. Just send your part before the deadline/Jan 3rd and your counselor can do the rest later…

All that granted. Hayyan will still be at a disadvantage. His app will be considered later and special circumstances will be applied on it SC , that will defiantly push you back a few college admission notches.

Are you having problems with deadlines for all colleges or just Leigh? I don’t think its that awesome a college anyway :D

BUMP!!! why is the 2015 thread so inactive? the 2014’s were on their 100th page at this point last year!

Why do so many people apply to Yale and not Harvard or Princeton from Pakistan ?

Yeah, thats what I was wondering. I dont like yale at all. Connecticut… ughh, wouldn’t you rather go to NYC or Boston.

Anyway, sad news ladies and gents; Salman Taseer’s death. Alleged corruption aside, this was not acceptable. Absolute barbarianism. I blame this government. What does everyone else think?

Good stats Pakipower, and nice little cover ’ as requested by…’
Just kidding man

I blame religion. It’s turned Pakistan into a barbaric and schizophrenic society. When I saw that some people were actually happy at this, I wanted to puke. Religion does bad things to one’s mind and intellectual capacity. Unfortunately, it’s become far too pervasive here. BTW, HOW can you blame the government of all people?! The religious parties and Mullahs gave fatwas against Taseer and incited this assassination. Taseer was a courageous man with a big heart who stood by his principles and helped a poor, innocent and wronged Christian woman against an army of crazy extremists.

Um, he actually did request them. Thanks though! :)

Please do not get me started on your clearly biased remark of what you seem to be referring to as “religion”. What the majority of the people, or the corrupted government in any case, is practicing is anything BUT religion. The Mullah’s and whatnot seem to follow a warped version of religion in which money and power seem to be their goals of achievement. I know of no religion that puts forth such extremist and ■■■■■■■■ ideals as their views. Furthermore, declaring that religion inhibits intelligence or any level of intellectual performance is nothing short of the most absurd and ignorant remark. Generalizing like you are about religion is one of the fundamental causes of the current state of our country in the first place. View everything from its context, and then judge it. Readily observing the common folk of Pakistan, who I would say we all agree are largely uneducated, superstitious, and have disturbing mindsets, and then casting your opinions based of them is just as derogatory.

I am sorry if I offended you but my opinion is now one that is unanimously endorsed by most of the true academics and intellectuals of the world. Example:

[Index - Welcome - RichardDawkins.net](http://richarddawkins.net/)

^ Professor Dawkins teaches Evolutionary Biology at Oxford.

Btw, religion causes even “un-common” folk to deny evolution which is a scientific fact. If that isn’t insane I don’t know what is. Oh, no, wait, religion is actually more insane than that. It makes you believe that there’s an all-powerful space daddy who can listen to your every wish (but still not care if you’re dying of cancer, for example), who will grant you 72 virgins to pleasure in heaven, and who is offended by who you choose to go to bed with (“Oh, no, you had sex with a Buddhist! You are hereby banished. I intended for you to pleasure yourself elsewhere,” is what He would say.) It’s so ridiculous but people believe in it because they are forced to from the time they’re young. The only reason you I think Alladin is a fictional story and Noah’s ark is a real one (even though it’s been proved fiction by archaeologists) is because we’re told that the latter is true from the second we’re born.

Use some common sense. Salmaan Taseer was murdered for speaking out against these religious nut jobs, who are frankly a waste of blood and oxygen, and you just seem to be ignoring that fact, by stating that same nonsense again and again that religion has nothing to do with it. Please, grow up.

Anyways, is anyone else going to list their app list? We can do a Pakistani style decision thread when it’s all done so that next year’s batch can assess their own chances. Plus, it’ll be a good distraction from the nervous wait we’re all experiencing at the moment. :)
