The official Pakistani Thread for the class of 2016

@Tizil, I mean that looking at ALL of my life stages (high school, college, grad school, early marriage, parent of young kids, parent of teenagers), I thought college was the best. Freedom and little responsibility except for studying, which I loved.

Heyyy, did NOT realize we’d crossed 1000 posts! :P

so it is a likely … :D

@Rme123: Oh! That’s a pretty good arrangement!

@MaineLonghorn: Reading that, I cannot wait to see for myself, to experience what you described :)

@Suhail: I’m about to cross a 1000 posts myself ;)

@Titan: Congratulations :D

Yes, I’m studying electrical here, and I got a likely letter too when I applied. So basically you are for sure in. It’s essentially an acceptance. Trust me. The people here are very nice. A lot of them are quite stupid, but they work really hard so they are pretty competitive.

MaineLonghorn, So are you someone from Maine who attended UT?

@Tizil7: I’m at just 20 :P

Hey, is it true that if you cross 10,000 posts you become a super moderator?

Nope Leo, that’s not true.

Look at Xiggi, or other long-time members for that matter. They have ~12k or ~11k posts, but are just “Senior Members”.

Maine Longhorn would be able to direct you to this thread which describes how CC Advisors and Moderators and Super Moderators are chosen.

HEY… First time I’m posting here!
I’m so tense about uni decisions (we all are I guess) … I’ve applied to LACs (expecting rejections :P)

Bye hey… If we don’t get in… We can always join the army: https://www.joinpakarmy.gov.pk/</a> :P

But*
10char

@ Tizil…ooo, I see. Nah, don’t get me wrong, I’m not looking to become a CC mod LOL, but I was just in awe of the wondrous control these powerful people have :P

Wouldn’t it be fun to wreck others’ posts? mwahaha XD

I hope this won’t get me banned off CC, I wish to stay till at least 1/4! :P

Want to post a nice big REJECTED on 5 CC forums, then I’ll go pursue my happily never after XD

11 odd days to go :stuck_out_tongue: ?

Hi, long time :)

@gtfotu Since you have both the citizenship and money, and I have neither, our argument is invalid since our experiences are completely different.

Wow list looks awesome.
Sorry I am too lazy to update the KGS ones.

How do you guys keep track of ALL the acceptances/UK offers anyway? Does your schools have a FB page where people post or something?

Roots Pindi has one!
I add the ones from Roots Mirpur and of my friends from Roots Islamabad. It’s still not 100% accurate. Cz I don’t know about everybody’s acceptances from Roots Isb.

@blueblovexD, I don’t even know what you were replying to concerning experiences. Anyway. What’s your name by the way? I know a lot of people from KGS. The people from KGS with me here are Salman Ali Asad, Ahmar Siddiqui and Ammar Mahesri. Not sure if you know them. I know a guy name Shehryar Haider too - in McGill now, and his siter’s in your class - Mehrmah.

And someone asked about changing majors at UCLA. It’s not too difficult, but if you’re in engineering, I’d never switch out, because all the admissions for engineering go directly to the engineering school [HSSEAS], not the undergrad admissions office, and the engineering dept. decides whether to give you admission or not. It’s very competitive. Also, you’ve got a likely letter which means you are in 99.99999989999% I mean I don’t know anyone who would want to switch out of HSSEAS. The internet was created here! The biz-econ or econ majors are very good here but don’t compare to engineering.

Did no one from KGS get into MIT? =S I know last year a girl did.

Nope, no MIT this year for KGS… Continuing the tradition after last year’s (pleasant) surprise

Wasnt the internet invented at CERN?

Two students from Beaconhouse Isb got into MIT too…so 5 in all

Nope. We did. The first message was sent to Berkeley by UCLA. [UCLA, birthplace of the Internet, celebrates 40th anniversary of network’s creation / UCLA Newsroom](Newsroom | UCLA)

And the first computer was invented at Penn. :)
