what do you mean by US COLLEGE? we have one american high school and its name is ''Robert College'' but it is a high school even though its title is ''college''.

we dont have any american universities =)

Is there Fenerbahce university :D

:D haha. nope. actually, we have FENERBAHCE HIGH SCHOOL but it isn't a college :D

in addition, fenerbahce is a football team :D

I know but Fenerbahce may be jealous because there is Galatasaray university but not Fenerbahce college :D:D:D:D:D

Well, I'm a parent living in Ankara, teaching at an IB high school, and I can say that our best students routinely go to Stanford, MIT, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, etc. So there are certainly high achievers here! And the IB Diploma Program allows for a "Bilingual Degree" if you take high level Turkish and English, so there are a number of students in that category, so that can only help in college admissions.

ahah:D you're absolutely right.:D

Hi there :)

I am not from Turkey, but close - Azerbaijan. I am pretty sure I am only Azeri on these boards, and one of the very few applying to the U.S.

I would recommend Bogazichi... But it's RIGOROUS :)

Ive lived in turkey for around 7 years and now live in the Netherlands (final year at highschool, applied to universities etc.). What i found really weird is how no Turkish universities are anywhere near the top 250 in the world (according to the rankings that first comes if you google "world university rankings"). Universities like Bogazici and Middle East Technical University should certainly come in the top 250 if not top 100. Just felt like sharing my opinion ;P

Greets

Thanks everyone for your responses!

@FURKANK: Will be Economics and Psychology with French

@Alone: What do you mean by "RIGOROUS"?

@emre90: Unis, as far as I understand, can only be counted in the rankings if they specialize in a field of study (like the LSE for instance) or teach everything (the Ivies, UofT, etc). So maybe that's why Turkish universities aren't in the top 250. But then again, it might be the language barrier, research citations etc.

whoa, i just randomly found this thread while searching for something else, haha.

but i'm turkish : D

TheGame, I mean that even compared to Ivies, Bogazici (and a number of other Turkish) universities) is quite rigorous, but vast majority of people do not know this due to the ranking problem mentioned above. An entrance exam to Turkish universities (YOS) is somewhat similar to SATs because it tests reasoning skills, but it differs because logical thinking is tested via complicated problems on higher level mathematics (calculus included). Last year, my compatriot got a perfect score on YOS, and barely got accepted by Bogazici, after being in contact with admissions office for quite a long time. However, if you are from America, you can apply with SATs, I believe.

@thegame

you are absolutely describing the GALATASARAY UNIVERSITY. they have a gorgeous french staff. also, they are very well respected.
