The Official UC Roster!

you should be very proud of getting into ucsc, i'm refreshing my.ucsc.edu every 10 minutes...

i know what ur going through

u too? good luck on irvine man, it seems pathetic but i'll throw a house party tonight if i get accepted into ucsc...it's not much, but my standards aren't as high as others on this site.

isn't UCSC's campus beautiful? seriously who wouldn't want to live in a place like that.

Only applied to Berkeley, SB, and UCI

a) UCI
b) Berkeley, SB, don't really want to go to any of the others, but if I had to choose...LA, SC, SD, Davis, Merced, Riverside, UCI (I live in Irvine).
c)3.7, 800 M 700 V, 790 M2c, 750 M1c, 710 US History, 690 Writing (hate that test)

yea ucsc is beautiful but to people on this site, UCSC is like generic ground beef while they got their sights set on the USDA prime steak....not a good analogy, but you know how it is.

a) UC IRVINE with Chancellor's Scholarship
b) Berkeley, LA, San Diego
c) Weighted: 4.5, UC: 3.9, SAT: 770v 710m (1480 total), SAT II: 710 Math 2c, 710 Writing, 760 USH.

how do u know u got the chancellors scholarship?

They send you a really nice postcard!

oooh
i hope i get one too

What's your GPA and SAT? It's a purely merit, academic based scholarship. Chancellor's and Regent's (Regent's I'm not so sure) are full ride scholarships. Generally, people who have gotten Chancellor's and Regents have 4.0+ GPA and 1400+ SATs, so don't get your hopes too high, unless, of course, you fit these criteria.

I got Irvine's Regents today and it's not a full ride unless you need finaid. They give you 9000 a year based on merit.

The big thing to point out about those scholarships is that you only get them at schools you're over qualified for. UCI and SB, for example, give them to kids who will get into UCB and LA. Riverside to kids who can get into UCD. Anyone who gets one at those schools could probably get into Harvard and Stanford. They are a tool to bring in students they couldn't otherwise get.

I always think deciding to take one over a better school must be very painful for most.

Don't worry, awaits. I'm sure you'll get into UCSC. I got in and your GPA is higher than mine (but my SATs are a hundred or two higher than yours). Nevertheless, your GPA and your scores will surely be enough to get you into UCSC.

Zagat, you're so right. I know it's kind of jerkoffish of me to say that I might have to turn down UCI. After all, we know that all us Regent's and Chancellor's scholars are really hoping to get into Stanford or one of the Ivies.
