The Official UCB Fall of 2014 Decisions Thread

I read an article about 30 mins ago, about how this year was the toughest so far for Freshmen… Berkeley and UCLA accepted less than 20%, Berkeley accepted only 17%!! I hope this doesn’t affect transfer students :/

@onehandedred Well, that’s comforting. I received one for UCLA, so it worried me that I didn’t for Cal. Are you working on it before you learn of your admission status?

@ucastell‌

we can think positively like… maybe there are more spots for transfer students?!

@whosnext, I truly hope so! but you’re right there’s nothing we can do at this point but to wait for our decisions…

@whosnext‌
Yes, it is really hard to figure out. T.T
Did you apply for financial aid thing?

@smashley93 I’m waiting until I get admitted to ask my professor to submit a letter of recommendation. I’ve wrote one essay so far, but they’re not long. 200 word limit for 2 of them and 300 word limit for one.

@happy123all‌
Sorry for getting back so late. Considering that you’re didn’t apply for Financial Aid. You can try https://myfinaid.berkeley.edu/myfinaid/home.html</a> like @moon9kittie‌ said and see if you have a pull down menu for 2014-2015 year on the top right corner. (That was my 1st hint that I might have been accepted before the financial information came out for me)

Just an FYI I too can log into calnet central.

Did you say you can log into tele bear for students? IF yes, go to the “personal” tab, then click “Warnme Contact”.
This was displayed after clicking: “WarnMe is available after you have submitted your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR).” <— Besides the financial aid, this was the only other thing I could find that could confirm my acceptance.

Hope this helps!

Is that only an option if you signed up for Cal summer sessions ^^^^

An option if you have taken Cal classes (Summer, Concurrent enrollment) before or somehow have a CalNet ID.

My major mcb and it has 23.1 % acceptance rates… hopefully I will make the cut! I hate/love how Berkeley is so unpredictable. I just want to know so I can end this long wait and finally know for sure where I will be for the next 2-3 years of my life. :frowning: Any other mcb or ib majors here?

@onehandedred You seem pretty confident ;)

@smashley93 Don’t worry I’m having a major internal breakdown right now. Everyday is an existential crisis for me. I CAN’T STOP FIENDING THIS ■■■■■■■ FORUM 8-X

:bz WHAT IS THIS BEE FOR

@onehandedred HAHA! Good. Me too. ~:> <<< or this?

@Happy123‌

no, as an international student, I am not eligible to apply for financial aid…
I have to pay fullll tuition

hello guys, just wondering if anyone knows how much is out-of-state transfer negatively impacted? if the department I applied to had 40% transfer acceptance rate, what would it be for oos transfers? thanks! :)

CCC students are prioritized over OOS. OOS transfers are also considered after UC/CSU/other instate 4 year institution transfers. Last year out of about a 1500 people only 150 people were accepted for UCLA (can’t find data for UCB). It’s not impossible but the transfer system by design puts you at a disadvantage. I’d really think about if transferring here worth it though, even if you’re here for a year or two, it’d cost a lot of money and you’re not illegible for certain grants. This doesn’t really make sense but 10% times 40%? 4% maybe?

@happy123all @Loyshi‌
Do you guys able to see the my academics tab on Calcentral?
If you do, what do you guys see?
For an current student, I have my school, program, standing, and units information under this tab.

@moon9kittie‌
You mean the my academics under my campus?

How long does it take to get a Calnet ID?

Hey random question but how beneficial is it to have extra classes that complete lower division requirements at UCB done in terms of application strength? like for example, im applying as chemical biology and they say that a second semester of physics, differential equation and linear algebra all are not required for admissions but can satisfy lower division requirements. So does having completed these classes make it any more likely that i will get in than compared to someone with the same stats but has not completed these classes?
