@ocnative I think it is hard to define it as a percent because it completely depends on the effects it has on the application as a whole. For example a PS about being a refugee of a war, moving to the US, and learning a new language is going to have completely different weight on an application than a paper about overcoming a hard class and turning your grades around. I know that example is kind of extreme but it is not so much a percent of the application as it is providing context to you grades, classes, EC, etc. It can most definitely make the difference for an applicant but it is not going to destroy the chances of an exceptional applicant with a great GPA and major preqs completed that writes an average paper. Main point, it either makes the rest of your application look better or does nothing for you, but it doesn’t have a separate weight of its on.

@JIMMYofW I’m pretty sure its because Cal is like the original University of California.

@Loyshi
Hi again!
I have just one other question and it is if you are a TAP applicant.
We just have 3days left to get our admissions unless I am hopeless for getting it now. Haha:)

@CompSciUCTrnsfr I think we’re going to be best friends soon. I’m in the same dilemma except with the EE class I’m actually taking it for a grade. And if I get into Cal, Im definitely going to do Summer Transfer Edge and take 61A and CS70 to catch up so that way, my fall semester will consist of 61C, EE40 and EE20. We’re going to destroy, but first let’s wait till friday hahaha

@onehandedred hahaha do you even lift brah

@toepump my cc does not offer the prereqs I need either this summer. I was thinking about doing them at Berkeley city college to save some money. If accepted that is

@happy123all
Yes, I’m part of Berkeley’s TAP program.

anyone know if theres some kind of transfer day at UCB that like intros the school n stuff?

@smashley93 Ok it’s good to we’re in the same boat! best of luck!

Somewhat relieved that I don’t have any big tests this week. Though much older than most of you ('70s baby!), I still have similar anxieties. Congrats to all who were accepted to UCLA!

@Bookham
Haha why don’t we get accepted first and then worry about orientation. Your supposed to attend calso though in June I think

@Bigcityofdreams Hahaha i know right? idk im just so anxious and UCB is my dream school. cant wait for friday! i need to know lol

This thread’s going to be very busy, very soon.

I’m beyond nervous. :-S

@smashley93

Abandoning people isn’t what I do. :D

@Bigcityofdreams

I can chance you if you want.

@Cayton Good. You can’t abandon us in our time of need just because you got into your dream school ;)

really wanting to SIR to ucla but I keep telling myself to give Berkeley a chance. If it wasn’t for the rank I would have already submitted my sir to ucla. Friday come soon!

@squashbanana

Ranking differences between the two schools are usually not very large. In the US News and World Report rankings, for example, Berkeley is #20 and UCLA is #23.

@squashbanana

What is your major?

Ah, the regs are back! @cayton , @ocnative, @squashbanana :)
