The Official UCB Fall of 2014 Decisions Thread

Was that a rhetorical question? :p

Least you were able to sleep…

TODAY IS THE DAY

…that I submit my SIR to UCLA

I was once asked how I’d like to be remembered and I simply smiled and said I’d rather stay forever. It was possibly my loudest cliche, but much better than just walking away, I suppose.

Now I think if I was asked how I’d like to be remembered, it certainly wouldn’t be as I am now - sweating and feverishly refreshing the My Berkeley App page lol

Why can’t they just release it the MORNING of the 25th? Why wait until the evening? Does the admissions office just like to draw it out as painfully as possible? Does Berkeley get some kind of smug satisfaction out of being the last to release their results out of all the UCs?

AGHHH!

8…more…hours…

Has anyone ever been rescinded for getting all Cs in their final semester? What about all Bs?

Didn’t sleep all freaking night. Thank God I have a number of “don’t think about Berkeley” activities planned for today. Good luck to you all and remember, no matter what happens, you’re all awesome. See you on the other side!

@toucheamore
The worst part is that they probably finished reading your application in late March. I think Berkeley does this to pick at our brains.

Holy crap @toucheamore‌, I literally just made a college confidential account just so I can say that as I was scrolling NERVOUSLY through this forum, I was listening to Just Exist and I saw the TA lyrics and it felt so surreal…

Best of luck to everyone! I’ll be sweating here nervously. 3.86 GPA for Media Studies, part of UC Berkeley’s Starting Point Mentorship Program, first generation college, work as a supervisor 25+ hours a week, great essays (or so everyone says…), other extracurricular activities, but STILL SO NERVOUS.

@patriciav
Hey! We’re rivals… I hope we both get in! <-- Media Studies nut as well. Great stats by the way.

@Anxiety94‌ Good luck to you! I’m feeling worried that my GPA is too low for a capped major but hopefully my personal statements will redeem myself…

If I get in, maybe I’ll see you there?! If not, I guess I don’t mind going to Davis.

@toucheamore good question. I’ve been wondering the same.

@patriciav
Don’t worry too much about it being a capped major. Remember that you are applying to get admitted into the school of L&S as an undergraduate interdisciplinary studies student. AFTER you’re admitted into the school, you then declare your major; it’s not like UCLA, where they admit you into the major itself. Hey my fallback is Davis as well :)

@anxiety94 Davis is my fall back too but ugh, it’s Berkeley. I/we just have to get in!

@anxiety94 Yep! I’m aware that that’s how Cal does it with the whole L&S deal. I’m probably just blowing everything out of proportion in this state of anxiety… What major are you going for if you go to Davis?

@patriciav
Communications for Davis! :)

Todays the day!! hopefully my 8 hours worth of distractions work lol

It’s okay, don’t let an institutional organization define who you are as a person. There’s great things waiting out there for all of us regardless of what schools we’re going to be attending. Heads up, guys!

…probably shouldn’t even be one to say that since I’m still sweating here nervously but it’s still a nice thing to think about.

@patriciav
I don’t think you have much to worry about for Berkeley. The admit rate for IDS was 31% for transfers last year, and your gpa/ECs are REALLY competitive. Also, if it makes you feel any better, the average GPA last year was 3.77 for admits.

@Anxiety94‌ I’m going for comm at Davis too! Well, if I go there. And thank you! It’s really reassuring to hear those words. Really hope you get in too. I’ll have my first transfer friend for media studies! I guess I just got nervous after the rejection from UCLA comm even though I never even wanted to go there anyways, hah.

@patriciav
Yeah I was also rejected from UCLA comm… They do their application reviews a little differently than Berkeley does, but that really set me off balance and made me REALLY nervous as well. We’re in the exact same boat in every way haha.
